Vintage Taylor’s Eye Witness Double pen Jack in Stag
Closed length - 4 5/8
Primary length - 3 3/4
Secondary length - 2 13/16
I picked this up on eBay about 10 years ago, mostly for the love of stag. And staggeringly good stag it is. Halfted very thin despite all the real estate, by a real craftsman. All the crags and popcorn a guy could ask for.
But the knife has other charms. Delicate distally tapered bolsters featuring the large rat tail fluting, Sheffield-style, long swedges on both blades, stovepipe kick on the main, snappy action. Pull on the main is about a 7 with nice walk and talk, and once you get the secondary started about an 8 but it’s a bit of a nail breaker for me out of the gate.
It’s a beaut. Wear and tear appropriate with its age, which id guess to be pretty darn old. Bladeplay on the main, and a slight check in the stag on the butt end that doesn’t even extend to the pin.
