Gen 6 XM-18 3.5" Non-Flipper, started out with a working finish spearpoint blade that was reground by Razor Edge Knives shortly before he started focusing more on his own knives. This has a long list of extras and the blade grind is outstanding. Currently has a 16 DPS edge from a Wicked Edge (imagine how tall that bevel would be if the blade was still at the factory thickness). Someone messed with the detent hole before I got it, so please be sure to read details on that below. Comes with all original packaging and original bags for hardware. Does not include nylon washers, original liner or G10 scale. I'll be happy to send more pics or videos if needed.
- Comes with Skiff bearings installed, as well as Hinderer tri-way bronze washer parts, Skiff thick washers, and factory hinderer bearings.
- Hinderer textured titanium Battle Blue scale, Working Finish handle screws and pivot screw, battle blue handle nuts and LBS, TiConnector "flat head" T8 screws for the clip and tab, original clip/tab screws.
- Compound regrind by REK. He put his version of the working finish on the blade after it was ground. I did not have him sterilize the blade so the Hinderer logos are there but are a bit faint.
- Comes with a Wera bit for the pivot screw, fits a standard 1/4" driver.
There are four or five heavy snail trails on the lock side and clip as seen in the photos and some tiny scuffs on the scale around the pivot screw. Blade is clean with no scratches, solid lockup with no stick, all hardware is in perfect shape. The blade is a bit off centered towards the lock side but does not touch due to the regrind. I believe it's the Ti scale that is affecting the centering because it was always fine with the factory liner & G10 scale. I haven't tried to mess with the centering much because it doesn't bother me.
Detent hole: Purchased as a new knife from a reputable dealer on Ebay many years ago, maybe 2018 or so. After mostly fidgeting with it for a few months I sent it to Josh for a regrind, and while he had it he noticed that the detent hole looked a little off. Apparently someone had messed with it and returned it, then it was sold to me. Not sure what they were trying to do to it. It looks like they tried to widen the opening of the detent hole. I didn't notice anything different with the detent pressure when compared to my 3" NF and the action feels great to me. There is a very light smushy-crunch sort of feeling at the moment the detent ball pops out, but only noticeable if you're slow rolling it open and looking for the feeling.
Weird Squeaking: Recently, a faint rubbing/squeaking sound popped up when moving the blade back and forth. The sound goes away when you touch the lock bar. Sometimes the sound goes away all together so I have no idea what it's from. I tried to catch it in this video: Noise
