Guys, this is the real deal here. One of the coolest knives I've ever owned. One of the early CUSTOM Retainers hand ground by the mastersmith himself, not the current run of production ones chisel ground in a factory before being touched up and refinished by the guys in his shop.
This is double edged with deep grinds on BOTH SIDES (I hate chisel grinds), and SCARY SHARP on both edges. Presented in excellent unused and uncarried condition. Looks flawless to me aside from a few minor kydex scuffs.
Did my usual sharpness test on a new roll of paper towel. Both edges sliced like a razor and effortless penetration (on the curve not the tip) with a light push. McNees posted a video of himself testing the production version... this performs way better. Designed for LE weapon retention as an improvement over the Hideaway design.
Extremely lightweight, and in lieu of any sort of grip there are two rings like a pair of sewing scissors. Snaps into a Kydex sheath with an unusual elastic multidirectional retention system I've seen a lot of the Silat guys use. I was considering replacing it with a narrow Utiliclip, but this actually seems better.
154CPM with a beadblasted finish (the production ones use a different steel and some sort of chemical patina or Ceracoat).
He only made a few of these and they never come up for sale. Very hard even to find the production versions right now.
$175 shipped. Paid 250 a week ago, then more bills, catch & release, I can't afford to keep buying impractical cool fighting knives and am pretty much done collecting at this point.
