I bought this knife new in August and have carried it a dozen times. It's S30V steel and black oxide coated 3/4 grind which is apparently rare and not something Strider does very many of. This knife has some things that need to be explained so please read carefully...
I used it for some cardboard and I cut a few steaks with it as well so it's not factory sharp but it's not beat up in by any means. I haven't been able to get the hazy smudges out of the black oxide coating but I was told scotchbright pads work. I just haven't gotten around to it and it looks kinda cool. The handle shows some smudging. The knife came new with "Strider Marks" (pic 6,7)
*When I first got the knife, the lockup seemed later than the pics I had seen of other Striders. After a while the lock bar started to travel over a little bit and a little bit of up-and-down blade play developed. Right now, if you just open the knife, lock up is at (pic 9) and there's up-and-down play but if you pull back on the blade the lock-bar sinks deeper (pic 10) and then lockup is rock solid.
Clearly this knife needs to be sent in for a lock tune and that's why I'm selling it cheaper than what it's worth. It would work fine for a long time before needing to be fixed but I would send it back to Strider if I was to keep it. Luckily Strider warranty is "No questions asked" so the buyer would have no issues sending it to them.
I paid $400 new. I'm gonna subtract $25 for my usage. I'm gonna subtract $30 for the combined 'hypothetical' shipping costs to and from Strider knives for the lock tune. I'm gonna subtract another $30 for the fact that the buyer has to potentially wait for their knife once they send it in for a lock tune.
