Solder-It is a low temperature solder paste that comes in a syringe dispenser. I used it on a guard and it seems to be holding up well. It is very inexpensive and great for a beginner. They are at www.solder-it.com.

Has anyone else tried it? How does it hold up over time?

I'd have a couple concerns. First you would need to be able to select a paste with a flux that was correct for your materials. For example you might have one for brass and one for stainless. My biggest concern is that you would leave flux residues in your material which would promote corrosion. I would try for a clean liquid flux that would primarily evaporate during the process. I want to knock oxides off my bonding surfaces and reduce oxides and surface tension in my solder. I don't want the fluxing chemical left behind to have any of the ionic contaminants left when I'm done. I suspect that solder paste would use acid salts rather than liquid acids. If it had liquid acid it would attack the solder while still in the package.

Travis, I checked the site out, I'll stick with silver solder. With a little practice soldering is easy, you just have to learn to use the heat to your advantage and draw the solder into the joint. When you do it right it holds forever and keeps contaminates from the joint. Then theres no chance of rust etc.
