Soldering heat gun

Can one solder...low temp solder..with a heat gun and no flame? I see that some guns get to 12-1400 degress. Would this alleviate the burning or staining of the flux on bolsters and liners, for example?

yes you can! soft tin solder melts at about 400*F I have used a heat gun on them before but it takes a bit to get it all up to temp.
