Soldering stainless steel

So you're applying the heat from the ricasso side and the solder from the tang side. Will this work for a 1084 blade and 416 guard? I worry about over-heating the blade and losing my temper. I've got the spring, use that same trick for gluing on guards. I'm assuming from your description that the solder will wick up the joint against gravity?
