I am looking for a decent fixed blade without breaking the bank. It will take on camp chores and whatever our outdoor adventures throw at us. I already have a Mora Robust in the bin with the Coleman stove so I have that covered. My "go to" outdoors knife is a Blind Horse Bushcrafter in 01. I have some Paypal $$ and I'm looking for some "best buy" advice. UNDER $100 :D

I have been looking at .....

D'ESKaBar
RAT 3
Ontario Afgan BS (not the 1/4" thick one)
Boker Plus Mosier fixed

add to my search list!

Look at the Becker line as well, maybe a BK2 or something in the Tweener line.

The Becker BK 15 Trailing Point, would be my recommendation, it's sorta neo-traditional with it's modern finish and sheath, but is a pretty venerable blade profile.

I've owned fixed blades my entire life, I want you to seriously consider these two bargain fix blade camp knives. Both really impressed me and I'm glad that I own them. The Schrade schf3n and the schf9. The Schf3n is a combat style fighting knife that will double as a lightweight camp knife any time. The SCHF9 is a thick recurve blade with a moderate amount of belly that can chop a tree down if needed.

You already have a couple of bushcraft knives. If you want a dedicated hunting knife to go with them, get a Buck Vanguard with the rubber handle for $50. Then, add a machete for brush clearing. You'll still be under $75.

That is right on the money Joe. I have been looking at the Buck Vanguard and the Omni. Also the Schrade USA Pro Hunter.

Owned and been impressed by both esee and Ontario. Also, everything I've ever seen come across a Becker blade on this forum has been conquered.

Gerber Big Rock. It has taken everything I have dished out and it cost me a whopping $25.

I reckon a SOG Seal Team (Elite) will satisfy you.
Great blade and handle for a great price.

The Schrade looks a good bit like a Chris Reeve design. Schrade is now owned by a Chinese manufacturer, I'm not sure there is US manufacture anymore.

Svord Kiwi machete for larger camp knife chores.
