Solid folding knife with good steel edc/hard work

If it were me, I would buy a simple Benchmade Mini Griptilian (or a Griptilian). The knife is strong enough for hard tasks and light enough to carry all day. Plus, there is at least one place where you can buy one for a bit over $80 and not break the bank.

Spyderco Manix 2. Available in regular and lightweight and a variety of steels. Zt0801. For your application, I would avoid com m4 as it isn't stainless. D2 is very close to stainless and dpx does a great job with it.

I have a ZT 0550 and a Spyderco Manix 2 (G-10, CPM S30V) and will vouch for both.

I am going to recommend the Ontario XM Strike Fighter. I have carried one for 6 years and beat the hell out of it. Besides just needing a good sharpening it is still in great shape. I have used it for prying open doors, cutting boxes, prepping food, as a screwdriver a few times and various other tasks. There is not one issue with the knife after all of this. If you take care of it then it will last you a lifetime. The steel is 154 cm and can be had for 239.00 at bladehq.

Well its going to do light bushcrafting and my military everyday needs which can be strenuous at times. To be honest lateral strength really doesn't have to play a major part. Just a strong design not going to lose the tip. And m4 is to corrosive i don't want to depend on coatings I'm in Washington by Seattle it's wet 8 months. I like the reverse tanto blade on the 810 just not the m4 steel. The 940 is to small in hand i got one and I'm getting rid of it it's annoying closing and opening it i don't need axis lock on a tiny knife. Plus I'm pretty sure i got one someone else returned the clip was already warn out so that was lame.

I have been going just can't decide on a steel I like... been looking at s30v or m390 maybe d2. This is where I was hoping to get some help I'm always reading other people forums for advise figured I would just post my own. And yes I moved the post to here to be in the correct place.

In my experience is that the steel debate is a moot point unless you plan on not regularly maintaining your blade or really abusing it. Your typical user won't see a difference until they have to sharpen it.

My favorite EDC (my SOCOM Delta) has ATS34, which is Japanese 154cm, works just fine. Every day I'll take a drop of froglube and wipe the blade down and at the end of every week I'll take a few passes with my stop. I have yet to actually sharpen the knife yet.

What you really have to decide is how long the blade is and how heavy you really want your knife to be. For me, a 3.5-4in blade and under 5 ounces is preferable.

I'd recommend a benchmade 940 or a spyderco paramilitary 2. Look at a Zero Tolerance 0560 or a Benchmade ADAMAS if you want a beefier blade

The 940 was a disappointment for me closing it was dangerous I had to have my and all scrunched to not cut my fingers was just to small I think the handle on the mini grip seamed more to hold on to width wise

But yes I'm looking for roughly 3" to 4" weight wise the 710 seamed like a good cut off size width and weight.

There is an 810 in M390.
