solingen steel

Jantz offers these blades. Any comments on qualities, they are quite thin 1/8 in and I prefer this for my knives.

Solingen is a city in germany , like sheffield in england ,where there has been a well established cutlery industry for many years.To say a solingen blade tells you nothing except where it is made, it says nothing about the type of steel or the hardness.

I have seen quite a number of knives with the word "Solingen" on them. I guess you are right. That's just like saying nothing really.
