Solo Canoe Camping Trip Report (pic heavy)

Really nice post Ken, beautiful colors up there already, thanks for sharing. That Norway lake looks like an amazing place to explore. I can't believe you'd rather eat rehydrated meals over fresh caught fish over an open fire. I sure hope I get over this damned bad ass cold soon, after such a long hot summer I can't wait to get out into autumn

Thanks for the pics Ken. The colors are just starting to change here, and you're right, never get tired of the fall colors. I may prefer winter, but I really enjoy watching the leaves change colors.

I appended the trip videos to the first post, but am including them here as well:

Excellent trip, Ken. It really makes me miss canoeing.

Doc

Thanks Doc, solo trips like this can be pretty special. I do admit that I have this huge knot in the back of my neck due to the combo of portaging and hard paddling on the way back against the wind. I had to beg my wife for a neck message last night just to get some decent sleep.

Thanks Mist, I brought too much food with me and I wanted to try out different dehydrated meals that I made myself with a dehydrator to see if they passed the test. Plus, I've eaten a lot of largemouth this year among my different trips and it is a fish I'm not particularly crazy about...Mind you its still good, but had I captured a N. pike on the trip which I was hoping to do, it surely would have made it into my frying pan.

I like deep winter, but Fall is still my favorite season of them all. Colour, active wildlife, good fishing (that is legal for most species), no bugs, dry ground to walk on and perfect sleeping temperature. But I also love the deep snow of winter, the brisk cold that keeps you sweat free, ability to cross swamps and wet terrain with easy and use of a sled to haul ones gear.

Man, I love the pictures, but I'm getting to where I hate to be out in the cold. But I'm going to have toget up on one of the hills pretty soon for a weekend. It's a lot harder when you don't have a truck.

It was fun going on your trip with you Ken :-) Beautiful Fall scenery. I had been planning a Fall solo canoe trip in the Adirondacks (NYS) all summer, but a wicked case of tendonitis in my elbow made paddling and portaging a little too risky if not impossible especially in a wilderness setting. Looking at your pictures was as close as I will get this year!

Can't argue with the perfect sleeping temperature. I have only used a sled to haul in gear twice, worked wonders when I went with a couple of people who had to have everything and the kitchen sink with them.

Desmobob, what are those drybags? Am I reading them right, "Ziploc"? Never seen them before. Do tell?

Awesome stuff Ken. If you would have asked......I still wouldn't have been able to make it :)

Maybe one of these days we will get out on one like that.
