Solo Survival Food?

Myakka, that sounds almost the same as the breakfasts I used to make. They are great before a long bike ride (100k or so). I used regular rolled oats blended up into flour though instead of Corn flour. These also cook easily (oat flour and honey) on a camp trip and taste great cold if you make it into a pancake of sorts. It ends up with a non sticky, rubbery texture that is sweet but not likely to make you want to puke after a lot of it.

Another place to look for 'survival' foods is on Cycling forums, these guys regularly do extended trips and are anal about weight, so some good, tasty high cal recepies are pretty easy to find.

For 2 days, you don't need any food. Its a piece of cake. You do need water though.

I have had an occasion whereby I went without food for 4 days. It was necessary but I survived. I did have a lot of water available.

I agree that if you only anticipate being in the bush for a couple of days, food isn't really needed. The problem I see with not having adequate nutritian with you, even if you don't feel you'll need it, is that almost anything can happen in the bush. California has a lot of very rugged wilderness areas, including around our home and if I'm venturing out for more than a walk in the park, I'm carrying food and food gathering with me as well as water and ability to make more clean water.
