Solo tent Solitaire Vs more expensive tents opinions?

Thanks for all the input guys!
I ordered a Eureka Solitaire from a Canadian online vendor!
For me right now the price is right, i figure if i do really get serious about backpacking again i'll look into some of the lighter more expensive ones.
I've book marked/saved the info you guys posted in this thread for use later, thanks!
Due to some family obligations i've been literally city bound for the past 4 years so right now its just awesome to be able to get out camping again!
:)
Going to get a new sleeping bag etc from mec and then i should be all set!
Woohoo!

I just reallized I still have my seed house SL1, maybe we can work something out and save you some money.
Wow thanks for the offer man! Just noticed this after i pulled the trigger on the Solitaire, d'oh! Oh well anyway thanks for your generous offer, lots of great people in this forum!

I was alright with the Solitaire. Found the poles break too easy. For the price, it's not a bad tent, but I'd upgrade now that you have the opportunity. The Hubba is a great tent, and you can definitely trust MSR to put out a good product, but if you're really ready to upgrade to the next level, go AWESOME and get the Nemo GoGo 1 person shelter with airbeam technology. AMAZING tent. You can regularly find them on sale, so don't look only at their MSRP, then put one in your cart. You won't regret it. Awesome tent.

The Solitaire is in the mail! Had to re-order it from another vendor though. First business sold me one, took my money then a day later said "oops" we don't have any, won't get any in til early 2011! Then they asked me do you want to this more expensive (and heavier) one at a more expensive price?
Not impressed with them at all! How do you sell stuff online and yet not have inventory software thats prevents selling stuff you don't have in stock?
They did reimburse me but only after i had to remind them to do so.
Ended up buying one on ebay for about 40$ cheaper than the first vendor.
The money i saved by buying the solitaire over the Hubba/Big Seed was used to upgrade my bag and sleeping pad plus some other odds and ends from MEC.
:)

i got a eureka solitare at the eureka camping center in binghamton a factory second for about 27 bucks.... it was well worth it i have taken it in the snow down to around 13 F and it hasn't failed... mind you its not the best built thing out there and i now use a hennessey hammock or a go-lite hex 3, but when i was using the solitaire i was digging it

How about the Eureka Backcountry 1. I paid just over $100 for mine almost ten years ago. Easton aluminum poles, quick easy setup. I dumped the bags and pins to reduce the weight. When packed up it takes up the space equal to a small loaf of bread. I am over 6' and can still fit my pack below my feet.
