I took the weekend to go deep in the woods for some winter camping. Lots of snow and cold temperature (-20). It's alot of work to pull that sled and setup the camp LOL... but it's awesome to be in the woods in middle of winter !
Had to cut the video in two parts.
Part 1:Hike to find a good spot with the sled. Setting up the arctic tent
Hope you enjoy the video

Winter is sadly leaving here. It needs to turn cold again dang it! Looks like you've got plenty of snow.
How do you like the Atuk?

A lot of guys don't like the stove in the middle, but seems that the heat would radiate more evenly and you're going to lose the stove space somewhere no matter the location. I'm in a Baker right now and have been eyeing the "Spike tent" style for a while.

On dial-up here and even just one pic of tent would be appreciated. My bucket list includes a winter making do outside.

Atuk tents are made up your way and are not the expense of many others.

... and a snow-shedding roof pitch that I sure appreciate as I anticipate the 4th snowclearing of the roof snow-load so far this winter here. Thanks!

One can cover them as well with an inexpensive tarp as a Fly, and the snow will just slide right off.

Here is part 2 of the video.

Alot of time was spent collecting, sawing and splitting wood. Don't underestimate the quantity of snow you need to melt to get water... I would recommend multiple metal containers.
Overall I had a good time and ate some good food.
I hope to go back out soon.
hope you like the video !

When I first got back from Vietnam to the 10th SFGA in March 1972 a bunch of Israeli soldiers had just left after getting Winter Warfare training for working in the mountains. If you look around on the Internet, you should find photos of them in over white uniforms and using skis. John
PS That would be on the Golan Heights.

brrr... hardcore camping in all that snow buddy
Looks like fun though, I enjoyed your documentary! :D
Thanks for sharing.

I was wondering where you found snow in galilee ???

I used to live in NYC
I took lots of ten day solo winter trips snowshoeing in the Green Mountains, Adirondacks and weekends in the Catskills
When I returned to England, I did long distance walking in the Scottish Highlands in the winter

I used the Timberline in the US

That's more fun than I had all winter. Great photography, too. It must have added a lot of time to be constantly moving he camera, and going back to get it.
