This was my last year mule deer buck I took with my bow, Yes he was in velvet and I did tear a hunk off dragging him out, Bow season starts here in Wa state Sept. 1st Some of the bucks have shed there velvet and others have not that time of year. This was an exceptional buck for Wa state He officially scored 170 1/8 inches he is in the top 10 typical mule deer for Wa state, the last I checked he was like #6 or 7, I had a head mount done but the velvet had to be removed cause of the piece I pulled off, I was kinda bummed out I was hoping to be able to save the velvet in the mount, The mount turned out excellent I am very happy with it even though I lost the velvet.
I used my trusty ole 112 to take care of him from gutting to skinning.
