Hello Everyone,
I am selling a pattern-welded seax that I began by welding the cores on the solstice. Then the entire thing was heat-treated on the first full moon of the New Year. It just worked out this way, but it can't hurt the traditional nature of this one.
Handle 5" - birdseye maple
Blade 15" long, 1.125" wide
core = 40 layers of 1080/15n20
edge = 1080 mono
etched w/ FeCl
Bolster and pommel plate are steel/brass
This is carefully hand-made. No presses or powerhammer. The welds are great, no flaws. Straight laminate, there are a couple of small twists in 2 center bars of the 4-bar-core. The blade was drawn so long that the twists are not obvious except upon very close inspection. Slight reverse taper to Center of Percussion, the normal taper to point. Light, fast, convex ground, razor sharp. This will be very good for cutting. Solid and sturdy. Does not look like factory-made item, but still has a good level of fit and finish.
I am asking $300.00 for this.
pm me if you are interested.
Kevin
