Some advice for the parents to be!!!!

Hey, I've just discovered something. Don't fondle (run around with) your HH, while holding 1 year old, listening to Prodigy and drinking Rum! ;)
Little Man is fine, but has mixed feelings about Daddy flipping knife around to music and Daddy bleeding.................. :o

That on the Snake? The file name implies Hell's Canyon. I've promised my wife a jet boat in a couple years. She has a 70-stitch prop scar from her college days....

Hi Blade Babe, Are you sure you can feed 1 month old baby with baby cereal? Because my baby doctor said only feed her milk(breast or enfamil)

That puzzled me too. I remember using formula to supplement breast milk and help our children sleep through the night. It's a dirty trick, really. The formula fills their stomachs and makes them think they're full.

Jerry, trust me on this: Encourage Jennifer to nurse. It can be trying for some women, so don't force it. But if she is able, there are multiple reasons why it is a good thing. Nursing is healthier for both her and the baby, tons more convenient than schlepping bottles around, cheaper, and generally relieves you of feeding duty (my usual task was to go get the baby and bring him/her to Amy). And besides all those legitimate reasons, you'll love the secondary benefits!

Rick - why yes, I _do_ have an infantile bias!

Well.....MOTHER KNOWS BEST!!!!! My doctor told me the same thing when my oldest was born and I tried that. My 2 oldest got sick on the enfamil. I didn't try it with my youngest, if my other 2 got sick on it then he probably would too. It won't hurt to give them some baby cereal in their bottle. Just don't make it real thick. I have done this with all of my children and they are all healthy! (And adorable!)

Jeez guys, I'm trying to give good advice here and you're not making me look very good. Who do you think they're going to believe anyway? Blade Babe:D or a bunch of crazed INFI nuts? ;) (Just kinding!)

thatmguy.......Misty is just a friend of Jerry/Jennifer and I. None of you hogs know her.

Then she can't be referenced ya silly girl....;)

Not sure if it's been said yet but remember......Grandparents love kids. When you need some time off, some sanity time, they are the ones to contact. They can spoil them and they know they can always give them back:D

Thanks Blade Babe for the tip. Our daughter is 6 weeks old & she is a handful! A lot of sleepless night for us but it's worth it:)

don't pay attention to the whole "dont give them a pacifier until after 6 weeks to avoid nipple confusion b.s." we waited, and our little one won't take any pacifiers ever.

You say that like it is a bad thing. Dummy plugs should be avoided at all costs.

All this technical stuff is great advice, but don't forget to nourish the child's soul. Make sure you show and tell your children you love them every chance you get. My father and his family weren't much for hugs or even saying that they loved you. I have made it a point to tell my little guy I love him at least five or ten time a day. :) He is already to the point of running from hugs, maybe I over did it, but that's too bad I guess.

A few things I would like to throw in:
Breastfeeding hard at the beginning but easier over the long haul (I only had to make sure I had enough diapers and clothes for a trip food was covered) If you want to do it find someone who had troubles that you feel comfortable calling in the middle of the night when everything is going wrong.
Cereal as soon as you are ready for it - Rhi started at 5 weeks my nephew at 3 days EVERY BABY is different. (and if he/she tries to eat your meal off your plate just share it's easier that way ... Rhi at 6 months was eating tamales and chili off my plate no if ands or buts)
When the baby is crawling around as long as you have made sure that there is nothing dangerous (chemical, choking, etc) on the ground it is best not to see why is going in the mouth ... dog food will not hurt and neither will a bit of dirt and leaves. At least they (and everything else she ate that I didn't see) never hurt Rhi.

AND MOST OF ALL ...
trust yourself - you know your baby best. if it is wrong for you it is wrong for the baby ... and if it is right for you it is right for the baby depsite what the nosey people in the supermarket line say.

Oh and get a sling!!!
Stacy
