Well Wednesday I purchased a Bradley Alias 1 and paid for 2nd day UPS. Knife arrived on Friday... 2nd day.

Well this was a birthday present for my dad, which is why I paid or the extra costs to get it here sooner. The knife box was torn and taped, the bag (think benchmade) had holes in it, like rips. And the knife had a scratch on the handle up by the pivot.

Needless to say, I couldn't give this to my dad as a present since he is a collector. I called to get a RMA, no problems there, but I wanted to be refunded my cost of 2nd day air shipping.

My reason Is because the knife was in the condition it was in. Had I not wanted the knife because I changed my mind or just because, I wouldn't request my shipping back.

What do you all think?

Are you getting a replacement knife or a refund on the order?

Their FAQ says

If your merchandise is defective, it will be replaced during the first 30 days after invoice date on unused items ONLY. After that time period, we ask that you contact the manufacturer directly for any defects covered by their warranty. If you decide to send your knife back to us on a defected item for a refund or replacement, you will be responsible for the shipping charges back to us and we will ship it back to you for free of charge.

If we ship you the wrong item, we will make it right and cover any additional shipping expenses you incur.

If you're getting a replacement then I might ask for that to be sent 2-day on their dime with an explanation of the circumstances. Maybe you get it...maybe you don't, but it wouldn't hurt to ask politely.
