Thanks, it really is a blast.

Ah yeah, was a good time, went by too fast!
Thanks for sharing the pics.

It always does!

Mistwalker, Thank you for the sharing your outstanding pictures. It was an amazing time and great meeting every one, I really enjoyed watching your daughter and Dex's son running around and being kids it seem to put thing in the correct perspective.

Thanks Brian! I took way too few pics. It was great to see you again and I'm thankful that you were able to provide us with these. Nice work!

Thank you Dan, I'm glad you enjoyed them man. It is always an amazing time, and I never get to talk to anyone as much as I'd like because I am always too busy trying to catch up and talk to everyone. I like having the kids there, I agree I think it helps to keep what the gatherings are all about in perspective. I think it is good to have them along and getting to experience the camaraderie and the fellowship that is the gathering, and immersed in the culture we love, rather than left behind to watch t.v. and play video games. I had been looking forward to Alayna being old enough that I felt comfortable with her there since the first gathering I went to years ago.

Thanks man, it was great getting to see you guys again! I never get to talk with anyone as much as I'd like, I think the gathering would have to last a week for me to do that. Having Alayna along changed the dynamic for me this time, so I wasn't able to wander and talk as much as I would have liked, but it's ok I wanted to get her involved too. And I wasn't able to take as many photos as I would have liked, but I tried to take enough to capture the essence of the gathering at least.

One day...

Thanks for the pictorial!

Brian, I'm always glad to see you at these. Not just because I count you as a friend, but because I know you'll document these with your skill set. Great work.

Dang!! I couldn't imagine what it'd be like to have 50ish people on top the hill. Looks like it was a great you're over there though. Thanks for the pictures mistwalker! They are always a joy to look at. Hopefully I'll have an opportunity time get back out there again.

Thanks Todd, I'm glad you enjoyed them. I take a lot more pics than I share, because I want to save a lot of these memories for later on in life. Even more so now that my daughter is old enough to go and hang out. It was good meeting and talking to you also man.

Thanks Murph, I'm glad you like the post man. I'm still annoyed with missing the two while I was gone to Michigan...

We have had pretty large crowds at the last few I have made it to, it's always a great weekend to be a part of. Glad you enjoyed the photos!

Great spread, Brian. I've learned a thing or two. Next year, multi camera. Lots more video. Still... your posts, every year, are the photo album we all look forward to. I'm grateful.

Here *should* be a link to my album. These are the better pics that I could weed out of 700+. To all those who helped me figure out this ridiculously nice camera that I "laterally reallocated" from work, much appreciation. I am leaving town tomorrow so until I get back this will have to do, but I will post them up individually once I return at some point. Probably.

I'm disappointed at the lack of pictures of me. Go back and try again.

Great album! Next time, if you have that filter that makes me not look like a 9-months pregnant Mr. Potato Head on stilts... that would be great. Thanks in advance!

I'ma hereby not ask permission right before posting one of those pics, without permission, on another venue. I apologize beforehand... because it's just easier to ask forgiveness and deal with the royalties later... :p

Awesome pictures so far. It was great seeing everyone again. Here is my measly contribution to the picture pile. In the order taken.

I arrived Thursday night just in time to eat some tasty stew prepared by Average Iowa Guy, and then spent the evening catching up with everyone, showing off and checking out new knives and gear, and getting a first glimpse of the new Bundok Bowie. Eventually, people began to drift off for bed. I strung up my hammock on the porch of Ethan’s shop, and slept well and warm despite a hefty breeze.
Friday morning, we began setting up our camps on the mountain.

We spent some more time looking at the new blade.

Dinner Friday night was beef on the spit, a little late but worth the wait.

It was another breezy night, but the ccf pad and sleeping bag again kept me warm in my hammock. On Saturday, Ethan announced there would be a try stick contest for the BK 20. I used my clip point BK 16, and my stick was awarded second place.

I chose a little Scandi ground knife with glow in the dark scales made by Dan Eastland as my second place prize.

C M Rick beat me by carving a tiny try stick.

I also spent some time at the belt sander working on an old broad axe with a little help from Erik.

Ka-Bar was particularly generous this year, and everyone present got a giveaway knife, or two. Dinner was pork loin and polenta supplemented by venison cooked by Dex at his cooking station.
Sunday breakfast was burritos followed by pork roll, bacon, and potatoes.

Then it was time for a bumpy ride down the mountain in Murph’s trailer and the drive home.

I hate that I haven't made it to one of these in a while but maybe it's a good thing....Gutsy is starting to look like a hippie.
