Still just cant get it right with that nice shinny high polish blade.

These are better then the last set.
Like these 2 but couldnt decide what one I liked best.

A bit bright but liked the way the background reflected off the blade.

The last one, I really like way my wood turned out after a bit of sandpaper and oil. Need to darken them up just a bit.

Think I am gettign the hang of shooting this blade, but still needs some work.

Well, if Playboy needs help on the centerfolds I know where they should go...

Thanks for the comments.

From tip to tail its just a tad over 19 if you include the rectangle shape endcap.
Sharp edge is 11 1/4"
from brass to endcap right around 6 3/4"

Next weekend I am going rabbit hunting and camping, so it will get a nice workout then!!
I really enjoy swining this beast, went out in the backyard and trimmed my fig tree with it. But thats all nice green soft wood, so no judge of how it will really chop.

Do you hunt cottontails for food? Just curious. I keep intending to give them more a try than I have. I used to shoot jacks in the desert, tried babecueing one of those once...

Mostly do jacks for pelts, and population control on some friends ranches in central NV.

99% of them are so worm, tick infested that I wouldnt even think of touching them with my hands, letalone eating them.

Do a few puffybutts for food, but thats a rare thing. Usually only if it is someones first time out and they havent eatten rabbit before. I want to see more of them around, so we tend to shy away from shooting them. It amazes me that the jac I shot within 10 or so yards from a cottontail will be full of ticks/ worms, and the cotton will be clean.... go figure.

Few pics of the last rabbit hunt.

My skinning knife.

I read a lot of O'Connor and his recomendation to shoot at running jacks for target work. I got pretty good at it, went to a handgun. eventually I just stopped. Must have lost my skill too; only running deer shot I took I missed. Fine by me. I turn those shots down today.

You right shooting running jacks will show you who the real pistol shot is in a group. Its easy when the paper dont run and jump.

I am a recovering IPSC shooter, so 99% of my shooting is handgun. I use it to to show me that shooting handguns was fun again, not a battle of cool toys.

I still do mostly handgun, allways have a rifle onhand for anythign over 50 yards on running jacks.

Anyway back on subject, I think I need a bit shorter one if I am going to use the heck out of it. After about 40 swings I needed a short respite, or switch hands. I think with a 12" version you could go all day.

Eich - very nice shots - you don't happen to have PhotoShop or some graphics program like that, have you? I find PhotoShop very useful to adjusting brightness & contrast & colour balance. Sometimes one gets a great shot, but it's just a bit too bright or dark or whatever.

cheers,

p.s. here's a quick example (didn't spend much time),

Yeah I have photoshop, but just cant seem to get the hang of brightness and contrast in it... Find its better just to take the pic right and chop it down to size.

(edit to respond to beoram)
I like the way you darkend the background, I just dont like the way it darkens the blade, to the point where you cant see most of the top grind line. I need to play around with it some more.
I need to spend some quality time with photoshop and see what I can do to the next series.
I think one of my big problems is the fact that I cant see what it looks like on other moniters, I should go over to a few friends houses and load the pics just to get a better view of how different moniters see the work. I got this old pos ViewSonic and crappy video card.

Thanks for posting a example!!

Kyle - photoshop can be pretty useful. I think there are programs to 'balance' your monitor, but I'm not sure where, maybe someone else knows? The best thing with Photoshop I think is just to play round with adjust brightness and contrast and also colour balance and just 'get a feel' for how it works. PhotoShop can really do wonders even for really bad photos, and if one starts with good photos...

I am going to buy a new camera this weekend and if it doesn't work better than this Kodak piece of junk I'm going to quit posting pix. When I look at these I get very discouraged.

Eich,
What knid of knife is your skinner? It has a nice temper line/hamon!
What kind of steel is it made of and who made it? Thank you!:)

Rob - I think I know your fingerprints now! ;)

Bill look around one of the most important features is Macro as Khukman has given a wonderfull example of. My current camera doesnt have that, and limits me as to what I can do for closeups. But anything with macro and around 4 megapixles is going to take nice shots.
I have a Kodak DC3400 that I won in a online contest it takes decent shots, but I am lusting after a Sony f707.
My method of taking pictures is take about 40 and toss all but 4 or 5 for the final post. With digital you can do that, take a 100 pictures and keep 10 of the best.

SkagSig40,
Its a RW Clark knife, he uses O2 for these smaller neck knives. I have 2 that real small one and a larger one. All his knives just pop out with that hamon line so nicely. Its a very well made knife. Hes on here do a search in the exchange for RW Clark will give you some better ideas of his work. That one picutred happens to have red ray skin under the black silk over wrapp and a silver dragon on either side.
E-mail me if you still have that 12" for sale... might be intrested in a trade.

The more I look at those pix the more depressed I get. This Kodak I paid $550 for quit sending pix and now sometimes it will turn on and sometimes not. When it does decide to power up it may shut down in 3 seconds or 5. Sometimes I can get it to stay on long enough to take a picture. I want to give the old 20 inch Ak treatment.

Bill what camera do you have? Are you tryign to upload via a USB? I have found that my USB uploading is real fast, but totaly unreliable. So I stick to the old serial port cable for uploads, takes longer, but its 100% reliable. Also as to stayign on, power cord or batteries?

Might want to give customer service a call see if they will give you some help. If all else fails I will come to Reno and help you with my 18" AK :)
