Some Busse History: 2771 Rope Cuts with a Basic 9

INFI is a PERFECT steel for knives. The Busse knife performance does the talking.

Too bad this, and all the other "Proof" threads, no longer have any of the "Proof" in them. Time to come up with some new PROOF threads for those of us who have never seen the old ones?

I have no problem believing that Busse knives have done what others have said they've done...too many seem to have already either seen the videos that no longer are here or were there when the tests took place. It would be a lot of fun if some of those older videos could be posted again as I'd enjoy seeing them. Fun stuff...

LOL, I've already got some but no rope is currently making me mad. :-) Been dying to try out my user NMSFNO on some trees that are growing up out of my bushes...

While still having the photos would be nice, for me an even more significant part of the proof is that the test was done in public (vs. at the manufacturer's shop where only employees could witness the test), and the test results were reported by someone who both witnessed the test and was not affiliated with the manufacturer.

Over the years others have tested Busse knives - one person in particular that comes to mind is "Cliff Stamp" (do a search with Cliff Stamp as the user name, along with Busse as a keyword).

LOL, I know who Cliff Stamp is. :-) And Lycosa, I'm not the one with a bunch of empty Proof threads so why would I have to prove anything? Just doesn't make sense to me to sticky empty threads.

Yeah the proof thread could do with some editing, it has a lot of dead links and photos that no longer seems to be hosted, Micro Bevel(may he rest in peace) did a great job gathering a lot of the stuff that is posted there. I guess we need someone to pick up where he left off.

I had no idea one person did all the collecting of videos and other Busse info but I'd love to see some of the stuff alluded to in the threads that has disappeared over time.

Micro Bevel linked to a lot of videos from many different People, i belive many of them was first gathered by Tyrkon Lawson, Tyrkons Blog still exists www.tyrkon.blogspot.com but most links are now dead, many of the first vids was also hosted on Megavideo.com and i think those that didn't bleed over to Youtube are lost. Ed that runs http://www.badmojo.net/ had many of the official Busse vids on his old site but those were lost when evil Apple deleted the content on the servers (i think)... Maybe Jerry still has them?? .

There has been some good stuff posted by Oge, first skinning a car a while back and recently splitting a car  Way to go Oge, we need more stuff like this.

I've owned a Busse Basic 9 for a very, very long time now. I bought it secondhand from someone in the US military. A short time after buying it I tended to move into smaller blades and the Basic 9 gathered dust in storage for years. About a year ago I decided to put it up for sale - what was I thinking. Oddly, no one was interested in buying it so I thought I might as well keep it and make it into a user and sharpened it up. That's when I discovered what a gem I had (although when I sliced my finger with it while cleaning I thought otherwise). It is now one of my favourite users and one of my favourite odd uses for it is breaking up mud crab. It is the perfect tool for the job. The Busse Basic 9 is one of the best blades made by Busse but probably one of the less glamorous ones. Modified infi is a very good steel.

i hope that the boss can release some D-tests on infi &sr101, to let the people know the truth on steels.:D
