Guys, I got my XTi the other day.

It does feel a bit sturdier than the Wave but not by much. This is more of a tool than the Wave (Which IMO is a bit like a sturdy SAK)

If you havent seen one up close and have a Wave here are some side by side pics.

Side by side

Crappy grinds, my only gripe about the Charge.

Looking along the spine its nasty, what a shame after they got the rest of it so right. :grumpy:

Outstanding Pics! the best I have seen on the Charge!!!! Can you do one with the Serrated Blade open compare it to the Wave if you could. A picture of the Charge and Wave together with the serrated Blades out to Compare is what I mean.

Thanks! Again great Pictures!

Just noticed the blades are a bit bigger on the Charge too.

Woodsaw still has bits in it :o

Great Pictures! The best I have seen of the Charge! Good shots of the Tools, can see the differance between the old Wave and the Charge.

Thanks!

After looking at the pictures again, I don't see why anyone would complain about the price of the Charge, you are getting 2 X's the tool for less than twice the price. I can't wait to get get one or two of them. I carry the Wave also and it has served me well but as soon as I can get a Charge I will.

Great pics! Can you post one of the can opener/wire stripper? My wire stripper seems to be defective and I'm wondering if they are all this way.

Shootist I will take it tomorrow for you when the light is right.

Rick, the blade comes like that, I reeks of quality steel, thats why I was so miffed about the crappy grinds :grumpy: Grrrrrrr!

Could you also take a pic to compare the width/thickness of the Charge and the wave? These are great pics - especially the one of the bit holder!

Thanks!

For more pics take a look in the 'Just got my Ti' thread started by danbomb. His pics + Temper's pics + mine should cover most aspects of the Charge.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I read about 'No frills lighting' in the Gallery forum, check it out. :D

Has anyone carried their Charge by the pocket clip? This is something I like on the Charge! It will not be the way I carry mine all the time but it will come in handy. The Quick Release Lanyard as well, This is two major improvements over the Older leathermans. Sorry! My question turned into a long speech! How does it carry in your pocket using the pocket clip?

Looks like my wire stripper is indeed screwed up. Its not sharp at all. Its a flat V, no angle.

I guess I'll be sending it back to leatherman.

I am a leatherman fan, It is the only Brand of Multi tools that I carry, I just hope they don't start producing so many Charge's that they loose Quality Control. I think this looks like one tuff tool but QC still needs to be done at all times. It will pay big for leatherman in the long run. I plan on getting a charge Ti as soon as I can. I just hope all of the QC bugs is worked out by then.

I am surprised they let mine slip through. It looks as though part of the process was skipped. Its definitley going back. :(

I am sure they will take care of it. I really like the tool and hate to be without it.

Shootist,
Not wishing to rub salt in an open wound but my wire stripper is really sharp.

There is always something on a LM. I showed you guys the bad champher grinds on the main blade. I also sent a suggestion in to LM about a year or so ago. I suggested that they put some knurling or some other way of identifying the serrated blade from the plain as I always got it wrong when I was bent over in an uncomfortable position. They thanked me and said that the next version of the Wave would have this. As a 'Thank-You' for taking the time to write in they offered me a new Wave with the sheeps foot markings. I promptly sent it in, but the new one that came back had bad grinds on the blade too. So I wrote and asked if I could send the new Wave back and have my old one but with the sheeps foot. Luckily they hadnt done anything with it. I got it back and was happy with it but there always seems to be something they let slip.

Victorinox however are ready for parade no matter how much you pay for it.

I cant fathom how LM could screw up quality control like this on their newly released flagship model !!

Surely a better way would be to keep the first years production all A1 quality and then once the reputation of the new range and the company has increased - let the QC slip afterwards cos people will still keep buying em on the strength of their previous rep !!

I sent a couple of links to Leatherman, one showing the great rep they have for customer service and this one for the QC gripes.

lets see what they have to say for themselves...

I know this thread shows the XTi serrated blade but if someone could please post a picture of the Ti Serrated blade! Thanks!
