Some chopping pics...It is the little things...I finally got my own!

Florida outscored us on the mojo-swag factor yesterday, and the run - I do not remember them gashing us up for passing yards. True East-West Rivalry game at home in the Swamp. Hone field advantage is a real thing in the SEC, and we threw our first INT this year, etc, etc...the better team on the field yesterday won. Good play calling too. I knew we were not going to have it easy. If we can swing only 1 West Loss to Bama and knock off Georgia, then a 2-loss season looks badass. Even dropping 2 to the East and One to Bama and coming in second in the West will mean a good bowl, and a decent season. Although, Coach O will have one the hotter seats in the country if we lose 3, no matter what.

Hopefully we can do to Georgia what Florida did to us. Only thing that is different is that Georgia game is during the day and the Tigers prefer Saturday Night over the day. It's just differnt!

You have a realistic view of things. And, Bama for the matter is not unbeatable. If you guys can run the table you'll be in the playoff. Yall are by far and away in the toughest Division of the toughest Conference in the Nation. Personally, I think they ( the committee) should put more stock in that fact.
In other words, 3 SEC teams could possibly represent the playoffs.

Did some light chopping.

I was in a bit of a confined space, and also did not have time to get super into it. Swings were all medium-medium high intensity, aka no big whacks.
  • First of all, I am so freaking happy I kept an SK. That thing bites deep, and feels really good swinging...not the ideal do-it all knife out there, although it is plenty capable for.sure. It was like a magnet into that wood. Plus, it is truly one of the baddest ass knives I have ever owned
  • M'Mandu - get one...thing is like a shark with a frikkin' laser beam on its forehead...I was going to sell one of my two, and I don't know about that anymore...that thing is badass...I just need to add a lanyard...
  • FG chops pretty darn good with factory edge - I like the length and the stock - lends to more speed, which probably washes out the "mass/weight" factor of the .25" guys...should have kept one more of these...
  • My SHe regrind from asym to convex was successful...I like what it does, and easy to touch up...
  • That old school SH-Variant has a sharpened by previous owner asym edge and it bites deep! it is in the .3" range stock-wise and FFG which you can see...8.25" blade - I was going to get a Miller Bros M8 until I saw this knife, and I had to have it...also, for me, for a big blade, I just love she SH handles the best. They just work for me.
  • I bought the brush puppy to test out 5160, I love that knife...it has a sweet spot, that when found, is just wicked
  • Did I mention the SK is freaking badass?!?
Cannot wait until it gets cooler and I can fashion my stump up just right and go to town on that 4-5" log...

So this is the "idea"....need to do a air bit more work before I can balance that big ole' log...i looked at it, and it is more like 7-8" wide flaring to 10-12" wide with a big knot sticking out...

Once I get this stump/log stand dialed in, I should be able to beat on the log across multiple sections and it be stable. And have a flat/nustled place to baton against...the log and stump may look a little undersized in the pics...not sure.

Using about 90% Busse to dig out, shape and eventually plane the surface!

If it works out, should be multi-functional...

"biggest blade" has been the MMD and I just broke out the battle saw today, just because. Got a B11 and 9 to throw at it for their first use by me as well...and of course and SHBM and a NMFBM!

Both these knives helped take out a sizable knot, and they still could shave hair, not that I would shave my face with them...

This is not soft wood either, must be oak based on what's around here...I am not a bark guy, although I could look it up...

Is the MMU SR-77 or INFI ?
Would like to try out the INFI MMU.
I put a 19 degree edge on the SR-77 MMU and it is really sharp. Light and fast.

I got the INFI version, just because. I have not done anything the edge yet, won't need to for awhile, looks like!

You are right about light and fast, and is deceptively hefty as well, all good things in my book...

Great knife, very practical...I am thinking about putting some thumb and forefinger indentions in the scales for potential finer work, like filleting a fish and other camp kitchen type stuff...where a nice pinch grip will have a smooth even draw across surfaces...not suer how to accomplish that yet and keep the aesthetic I am looking for. Not a cheap knife to screw up!

I have also been experimenting with the pinch grip and thinking through different scenarios...those improvements would also help chopping in certain tight spaces. The MMD is hefty, light enough and ground so that it bites deep with pretty minimal force, I am thinking things like clearing these stupid oak trees that pop up everywhere in the yard/landscaping, getting at vines when a full swing is not possible and a regular hammer grip hampers your angle of attack...

Last stump I saves ended up a fire ant nest before I got any decent use into it. Stupid ants!
