Some comments on my new Buck Vantage Force Pro

I recently acquired a Buck Vantage Force Pro, it's centering is perfect, deployment and lockup are perfect. Came wicked sharp. Very pleased.

Well, thanks everyone. I think you all echoed my sentiments about this knife. BTW, the blade on my knife is centered when closed. When the blade is extended there is no play (yet?), but when the knife is closed, the blade is almost flapping in the breeze, so when you flick it open (it's actually too tight to "flick") it wipes the liner.

Not sure if I'm going to return it or not. I love the handle shape. It just feels great, and it's a great looking knife with the contoured blue-black G-10 and really nice blade shape. Beyond that meh - it's totally not worth the $100 I paid for it ( the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 is the same price and 10x better). And what rubs me the wrong way is that it's advertized as a super strong last ditch self defense knife. No way! I feel like Buck is taking advantage of people here - not good.

I would have it exchanged or serviced. Some movement of the blade while closed is fine, but definitely shouldn't be rubbing every time it's flicked. Buck has one of the best warranties, but that's the problem with first impressions...you only get one.

I would tend to agree.

Send it back to Buck. Give them a chance to fix the knife and make things right..

Err... buy the $20 model? I don't seem to have any of the problems I'm reading here. ....

It is ironic that the lowest end models of the Vantage line seem to have the fewest probs overall.

Although I got one basic Select that had lockup all the way to the right, and mating surfaces were not matched, had vertical play right out of the box.

When you flick, you're supposed to direct the force forward, not pressing into the blade. That way it doesn't rub the liner.

Or try old 'brownie pop' that doesn't touch the blade at all.

when I got home, I noticed that when the knife is closed, you can easily move the tip of the blade to touch the steel liners. So what's happening already, is that as you flick it open with your thumb, the tip to belly section can ride along the inner edge of the steel liner resulting in scratches and a dull front of the blade. WTF?

I received a small Paperstone Vantage today, and the blade is all of the way over on the liner. I took the knife apart, but could not correct the prob.

Hey Buck, its time you guys pull your heads out your rear ends on the Vantage blade-centering problem.

I'll send this one back to Buck, and I'm sure they will take care of me, but this is ridiculous.

I had my choice at the store of 3 diff't ones. The one I took home was the best by far, but I didn't notice the side to side movement when closed until I got home. I just got a new Dozier knife so the Vantage is sitting on the shelf until I decide whether to return it or send it to Buck. I'll probably just return it and it will be my first and last Buck knife.
