Hi Guys,
I've compiled some pictures of knives I've worked with through my time here. I'll be posting them here now that I've got enough to show and enough intel of them to raise some interesting questions...;)

First is a trio of Straight Handle Steel HeartII's, One is INFI two are supposed to be A2, though one of the supposed A2's has a grind similar to the INFI blade. Notice that the INFI knife has a short space between the handle slab and the grind line, now look at one of the "A2" blades, similar?? The true A2 blade has a longer space there. The dimples are therer for the INFI and the shorter spaced A2 blade, but smooth for the true A2 blade. I assume that the grind line isnt indicative to the presence of INFI but it makes one wonder.

Any comments?? And one question of mine....How many handle configurations are there?? So far I've seen: Smooth, Diagonal grooves, vertical grooves, any others?? This is for the straight handles only.

More to come as I get them together....:D

Heres a grouping of Badgers and one Howler. Interesting morphing of this one, I think the Badger went through more incarnations than any other Busse knife so far. I found an ad in the first issue of Tactical Knives, it lists a birds beak SHII in A2, a Badger Attack in A2, NO front talon hole! never seen one of those! It also lists the infamous A2 fatty Combat Recruit, and get this, heres the prices at that time.   247.00 for the BB SHII:( 157.00 for the BA, and 67.00 for the CR!!!!Makes ya wanna make a time machine eh?:D I was in college at this time and shoulda used some of that extra Loan money to scarf up some of that sweet A2!:o

I'll get a scan up of this ad, you oughta see Jerry's pic on this one, talk about baby face!:D

I want that SHII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My new obsession!:p

Heres those Badgers.......

Heres that ad, dang it, if I only knew then.......:(

Dwayne,

Thanks for the pics. Now don't you wish you could've cloned them suckers when they were inhand? Very yum!

Cheers,
BillyJoeBob :D

p.s. Now back to my leather! ;)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, grinds sminds! Hurry up and send those Steel Hearts back to me already:D :p :D

I note that the ad distinctly says Steel Heart II on the BB Heart, although I hear the non-BB hearts referred to as Steel Heart II's frequently.

Yes, I did buy one each of the Steel Heart and the Badger Attack at those prices. Still have both, in unused condition. My BA has the guard hole, though.

Should have bought the ATS-34 SH I when I first saw ads for it, as well.

Nice BA pic. Hmmmm, that reminds me of something *Hint, hint*.;) Lol.

Hi Herber! Funny you say that, theres a real nice little anaconda inlay sheath in the makins sitting right here in front of of me. It happens to fit a BA3!!:D look for pics tomorrow of the inlay in place ready to be stitched in! Whoo Haaaa!!

Yea, I've heard both the A2 BB SH and the moon pommel SH both called SHII's. I've wondered if there is a differentiation that I've not heard yet.

Hi BJB, Your #86 on the list, heck they're practically in your hands now!! What more do you want, actuall leather???:p  They're on the board now, should'nt be too much longer buddy, I have had a few military orders lately that have taken a bit more of my time than I had bargained for. Those orders take precidence, but jeeze man, its getting crazy!! But ya gotta love seeing leather going to battle!!!:D I would love to find out that the knife I sheathed took out a terrorist! I would put that one under glass and on the wall..:D

Speaking of A2, heres a couple of real beauties, used and loved, and both are MINE!!!!!!! Well after an extended period of indentured servitude.......;)

MORE??????:p Does this ever end?? Yup, I've had to send back some real beauties....:(

Man, where are the pics of the ones I've sent you. Now those were some beauties, I even let you keep them ;) :p

:D:D

OH YEA!!!! I cant forget my cardboard variants!!! I still bring those out and drool, not much of course its bad for the blades!:p Pics of those coming tomorrow!:D Thanks again Eric!;)

Dwayne, that third for real A2 SH is what got me going. Mine has the dimples, the same grind as the infi SH (the one with the hollow tube fasteners) but it was sold to me as A2. I'm just thinking the guy was mistaken. Mine is the one in the middle folks. At 5/16" it is a very hefty chunk o steel, but the only way to know for sure is to send it back to the shop. It's back home now and I don't think I'm going to let it go galavanting again any time soon.

Hey Dwayne! what # am I on the leather hit parade? Or do different ones occupy different spots. No problem, take care of those boys in uniform first.:D :D

You're right about the Badger having more incarnations than Shirley McLaine. That fatty A2 is a beaut! Makes a nice companion to the SHSH ya got.:D Well, I DID tell you that the straight handles were addictive. ;) ;)

Rob

YUP!! INFI addiction was bad enough, now you've got me having A2 DT's!!!:p Big hefty blades and straight handles.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, drooooool!:D

Now for Eric! Heres my cardboard variant collection, I cant help but think theres one or two missing! Gundy's little charm is missing and now one of Erics!! Me thinks I have a INFI Leprechaun! AWRIGHT Bo, ya little bugger! Come out before I get the razor strap!!!!:D

I knew you were holding out on us. If you notice one of mine even has the limited black magic marker handles ;):p

:D:D

OH YEA!! That black handled beauty is my most treasured "variant" not another one will ever be made and I feel priveledged to have one. :D One O these days I will own a true variant, untill then my cardboard variants will keep me warm and happy!:D

There IS only one, the other one in paper went to the shredder.

Now as for the INFI copy, I think its hiding somewhere in Kentucky.;)

Oh yea, BJB, theres a little sheath on my bench, made from black moodex, its got a healthy "Snap" when the knife clicks in place!!!:D GOtta love that snappy moodex!
