Here are some pics of the 1st week of the 2008 gun deer season. We camp around Dierks Lake, and hunt both the Howard Co. WMA, as well as the Ouachita National Forest Wilderness Area near Athens, AR.
First off some camp pics, My nephew's 8 point, and doe.
Here is a shot of some cedar I busted up to add some crackle, and aroma to the campfire, and a pic of some good tinder that grows along the shale beds.
Here is the best shot I could get of the area where I shot the hog. really thick saw briar, honeysuckle, and switchcane at the river, then nice white oak ridges, and draws behind all that jungle.
Now just some random scenery of the lake shore, a little feeder stream, and the pretty 75+ foot panther bluff waterfall, and some nice gnarly cedar bones on the hillside.
The week went too fast, as usual. I will be going back in about a week to 10 days. Will try and get more pics. The weather was mostly good, the firetime was great, and I even got some hog in the cooler, ready to smoke. All in all, a wonderful time with my dad, my son, and my nephew.
