made these yesterday using only my Battle Mistress and a small baton

Im not finished with the spoon yet, I had just built a fire and was going to burn the inside out when it started to downpoor, so i'll just hollow it out with my knife some more till I get another chance at a fire. Btw it is very tedious work with such a large knife but it can be done. I'll try to make another spoon and show the process

Cool, Good work with such a beast of a blade, really! Gene

That was all she wrote for that mighty Redwood! :D

Seriously, that is pretty darn cool! -Matt-

Nice job. A big knife can be a bit unwieldy for such tasks, but looks like you used it to good effect. What are those grooves in the blade of your knife?

Awsome, have you used them yet? :D

Not yet, I wanted to order some chinese take out last night but the ole lady wanted Applebees...didn't want to pull out some home made chopsticks and a ugly wooden spoon in the middle of the restraunt:o

Using the baton helped a lot, I also stuck the tip of the knife in another piece of wood and moved the smaller pieces of wood over the blade, that made it much easier. Those grooves are Busse Combat's CBT or Corrugated Bevel Technology. They are to reduce friction, weight, and add strength:thumbup:

A slightly rounded pebble with a sharp or rough edge makes a good tool for smoothing the inside of a spoon. The rounded edge of a small bone chopped in two works also.

Very nice work so far....

Maybe I missed it, but what wood are you using?

I make a set of chopsticks when in bush. Never saw much need for a spoon though. Much easier to drink the broth that's left over, than dribble it all over myself trying to hit my mouth with a crooked spoon.:D

Nice work.

I made a butter knife once camping and it was needed and used :) But I had a lot smaller nice! LOL

not really sure myself what type of wood it is, they started out as a two inch thick stick that I found in a wood pile though. the spoon was just for fun, I realize that its not very practical but i think the chopsticks could come in real handy
