Some Endura questions... I wanna new knife.

The E4 has a larger hole, right?

I woke up wanting a waved SE Endura only to find that it doesn't look like the waved comes fully serrated. I love SE !!!!

So, now a new dilemma. The SE "regular" Enduras come in ZDP-189 or VG-10.

Now the ZDP is intriguing as a long laster and if it were SE, wouldn't that make it a bear to sharpen compared to VG-10?

And ...lastly... I may want to filework the back of the blade and I know I can do VG-10 but have never tried ZDP.

So....what do I want?
:)

All I know is that the ZDP blade is only ZDP in the core, so filing the back shouldn't be that difficult.

It is listed on the site as SOLID ZDP. Is that wishful thinking or did they come that way initially?

You want to give up your interest in SE and pick up an E4 with wave

B-b-but then it's just a .... knife.

SE makes it a chainsaw, laser, fiber-hacking, ninja-ripping, tree-felling, log-splitting, car-dismantling.... DEVICE !!

:D

What is the VG-10 hardened to?? 59, 60??
What is the ZDP-189 hardenedto?? 62,64??
Probably with the right files, you can filework the ZDP. It might take longer, and take more files, but you should be able to engrave it. Maybe?
:)
Let us know what you decide.
I have had a G2 Endura for 15 years now, and I just got a new Endura 4 with ZDP to back it up. The G2 has done excellent work all these years, but I am thinking about retiring it in favor of the "steel-of-the-month" ZDP-189. We'll see.

You're damn right about that:D

Some of the ZDP blades, such as the Caly Jr. and Caly 3 are laminated, with a ZDP core sandwiched in 420J. The ZDP Delica and Endura have blades made of solid ZDP-189. I have a ZDP Endura and a ZDP Delica in my pocket right now, so I am pretty sure about this :D

I went to the knife store. Wanted to look at em. Looked at a BM Mini-Dejavoo, an Endura, and my eye wandered to a.... NATIVE.

Now I had a Native once and didn't care for it. It was the one with the wire clip and VG-10. Also plain edge (I was new and didn't know better)

But when I picked up the Endura, (which I also had one of before) it again reminded me of a big ole huge flat hard banana that wouldn't fit ANY of my pockets and would go in the drawer too fast.

So...... I got the Native. SE of course. And S-30V.

And now I can enter the blade chipping, non sharpening, bevel questioning, general grousing (or praising) ranks of the Native nuts.

THIS Native is much squarer feeling than my old one and it opens easily (and slick) without the clip so it can just drop into the pocket. (with room to spare)

The stupid thing just FEELS so good. Perfect jimping, good grip, and of course a SERRATED edge. Although Spyderco seems to think it's a COMBO edge. (it does have a bit more plain edge than the Endura but not TOOOO much)

So now I'll see.

Bought a ZDP-189 Endura 4 SE today, and when I saw this post of yours I just had to smile. For I too like my serrated edge...DEVICES...

Just got my ZDP Endura 4 PE in the mail last night.

I love it!

It goes in the front pocket, while the Endura 4 VG-10 SE goes in the back pocket.
