There is no high tech manufacturing facility, there is no Warehouse, there is no physical store where you may buy the H.I product.
All H.I. product is produced by hand with minimal power equipment. All blades are sourced from reclaimed 5160 steel. Usually from high quality leaf springs from automobiles and trucks.
All blades are hand-forged to shape by experienced craftsmen of the trade. H.I. only employs those craftsmen whom are able to meet our strict standards for quality craftsmanship in regards to forging, heat treating, fit and finish.
All H.I. product with the exception of the biltong and kagas katne are manufactured in our own Aruns (shops) using our own employees/craftsmen. The biltong and kagas katne are sourced from quality craftsmen in the dharan area whom are able to meet our quality standard for those items.
At present there are only a couple of shops operating and employing a half dozen craftsmen. Due to the nature of the business and the nature of kamis, craftsmen will come and go for their own reasons as well as ours.
No visits to the Nepal shops are allowed. This is for the safety of our business and our employees in a country with differing political views and factions and varying degrees of safety. This is for your protection, as well as ours.
There is no warehouse and no physical store. All items sold stateside are sold by Auntie Yangdu (or myself at times) from our humble homes. Anyone wishing to inspect product before purchase must first inquire personally to us for a visit. Both Auntie and I must be comfortable inviting persons into our homes for this purpose.
Auntie is the only person stateside dealing with all that this business entails, including everything from the day to day running of the business and customer interactions, packing and shipping your items after purchase.... to after sales service as well.
I handle monitoring the Bladeforums subforum and am consultant on returns and repair and warranty service. Sort of trying to fill dear uncles immense shoes as best as I can.
Your patience and politeness are highly encouraged and appreciated.
We are very busy most days and sometimes we need a little time for ourselves and our families. If we do not get back to you immediately (especially on weekends) please understand and send further inquiry if we have not gotten back to you in a few days.
Auntie and I both strive to serve our customers in the best manner possible. We try very, very hard to set the standard for quality product and service in this industry. Our track record and testimonials bear this fact and always has, (and always will).
We cannot always control what happens in Nepal that may delay shipments of our product to us for sale here in the states. At times there may be delays in processing or shipment that we cannot control or have to address.
Anyone experiencing a wait on product, is (as always) welcome to a refund of their purchase if they do not wish to wait.....
We ask that you do so politely...... otherwise we may choose not to allow purchase of our product.
We cannot control shipping. USPS has it's own way of doing things and it's own schedule. We have enjoyed ultra fast shipping by this method for many years, but sometimes things do not always go in our favor. If you are experiencing a delay of your shipment or a tracking number given you is not working. Auntie will be more that happy for you to politely inquire. Please note that tracking is not automatically always purchased. We feel that insurance of your items is important and our items are always shipped insured. If the tracking number is correct, then your recourse is to inquire with USPS about the delay.
