I make about 20 knives tops per year , just a hobby that has allowed me to meet some great people , and have a whole lot of fun. I learn a little more with each one I finish , and am now just learning to slow down and pay closer attention to the details.

After 6 months of being out of the shop and not doing any knife work , this Holiday weekend was a great chance for me to get some stuff done. ( Including a leather sheath for a good bud ). Many thanks to my wife who actually insisted I go get some bonding time with the Bader. :D

They aren't show quality , but I am happy with the way they turned out. Just need to logo , sheath and sharpen em.

First one:
Steel : 3/16 154cm ( Bos HT ) , flat ground , hand satin (400 grit that is as fine a grit as I use).
Scales : green micarta , redliners with SS corby bolts , SS lan tube
tang tapers to approx .065 - .070 ( probably do a leather sheath)
OAL: 10 1/8 with 4 5/8 cutting edge.

Second One :
Steel : .200 S30v (Bos HT), flat ground ( .016 at the edge )
Scales : Green Micarta , SS/brass loveless bolts , SS lan tube
tang tapers to approx .060
Finish : al ox blast followed by glass bead blast
OAL: 10 1/2" with a 5 1/2 cutting edge
This one is supposed to get a kydex sheath if I recall ( have to dbl check with the friend who called dibs on it - gotta love friends ! )

Darn SLR bat went dead so I didn't snap but a couple picts of the above knife.

This one I finished up yesterday , I ground it out awhile ago , got it back from Paul Bos for HT , and it just sat there , waiting to be final ground for almost a year. I really wish I had ground them thinner before sending off for HT , I now know that .075 is too thick . Doh !

It's supposed to be a Loveless patten , but I made a few subtle changes ( ok screw-ups , but I like em and will make em like this from now on ).

Steel: Boehler n690 with Paul Bos HT ( 5/32 thick )
Handles: green micarta with red linder , SS corby bolts and SS lan tube
OAL: 10"
Blade : 4 1/2" cutting edge.
hand satin to 400 grit ( Did I mention I have nothing finer ? ).
Edge is about .018.
I did a slight contour on the scales , basically kept shaping till it felt right. Think I will have to make a few more of these as I really like the way it feels , next ones will have to get tapered tangs though.

certainly not the quality of a Loveless , Lovett or Young , but I will keep on trying and hopefully someday , well hopefully someday I will own a Lovett :D

Nice and CLEAN John!!!

Gotta love knives where an elegant form follows function.

Can I have them???? :D

Thanks Nick.

Kevin : The logo will go on the blade like these ones I did back in May or so... I have moved the BOS logo to the opposite side of the blade like the 2nd pict.

Did one of these in green Micarta that was given as a gift to a guy who went on a Red Stag hunt in NZ , he bagged a beast and said it performed great , the in use pictures were a real treasure for me to see.

I don't think I have ever seen any of your knives before this. You do really good work.

And you should see his sheath work Keith, John does some really great leather work.........................when he isn't off shooting or spending time with his family that is.:D

Very nice work John. As others have said - clean and crisp.

you evidently have some solid design talents. Less is more:thumbup:

Thanks guys , appreciate the comments. My goal is to make a solid working knife , I have yet to experiment with handle material other than stabilized woods , G10 and Micarta as I try to stick with what I can afford to use.

Last year I did a trade with Alan Folts , one of mine for one of his. That to me , was a blast. Can't believe I missed this years Christmas Knife Exchange in the makers forums , next year for sure !

Lookin' good, John. I got to handle one of John's knives in Vegas last year and it was very well done. See you in January!

Johns work has come a LONG way in a relatively short time. His style of knives REALLY turn my crank too. Pure, simple design, great fit and finish, and utterly useable!

BTW dude, when I gave you that Matrix, didnt I say you had to make ME a knife?..
You didnt even give me a coin, thats bad Karma bro..LOL..;)

Thanks Win , I can't wait to see you in January as well.

Trace , I gave you a bottle of hooch that night , even though I did help drink it too....hehe. I am sure I can find something in this next batch that you might like.
