i was just messing around with my remote, and my 65mm macro lens. only one of them actually end up being "art quality" wich will be the last photo shown. SO...

this is a pretty basic can cut, 5 [edit: 7 :) ] in a row. my form could have been better, you can see that I had an upward arc by the length of the can tops that are mid air - as well as the 5th can that didnt get completely severed. It was fun :) I realize now that for the full 30+ can cut, i would need someone to be on the roof pressing the shutter for the non stop drive mode... the remote can only take about a shot per second, wich is too much time in between.

look at em... so smug in their can-ness....

its unfortunate that i dont have a way of posting the full 4368x2912 size shot... there are some cool parts of it:

the edge did take some very light rolling, but i kind of expected that. it took some barely visible damage along the main curve from the 5 can cut, but took the most damage from the top to bottom cut. this photo makes it look bad - but remember that its at 5x life size. You can get a perspective on the size of the damage by looking at the grey area of the blade, the lighter grey = the cutting edge bevel, the dark grey is the start of the primary grind. overall its a very small denting of the metal.

there have been a few comments about the edge being thinner then expected on the HOGFBMLE - as a visual referene, this is a photograph of the a penny resting on the blade right where the choil ends.

and this is a photo of a penny resting on the tip. the tip is considerably thicker then the edge (1mm vs. 3mm).

every wonder what the dog tag on the busse logo has written on it? i know theres an M in it....

there are 2 locations on my hogfbmle that have very light browning, one of wich is the tip. this is an example of "how much time do you really want to put into making it look pretty?" - ANYTHING looks bad under 5x magnification. you can barely see this with the naked eye.

attachment.php

this is just me messing around with the lens. i liked this shot just because it tricks the eye into seeing major barrel distortion, wich is just an optical illusion of the focal plane being curved by the object.

attachment.php

and the only shot that actually turned out almost art qaulity: up close and in the right light, it almost looks like actual snakeskin.

attachment.php

[EDIT: Camera settings for this shot = canon eos 5d, canon mp-e 65mm 1-5x macro lens (PRIME), iso 800, 1/80 shutter speed, f/16, hand held with lighting provided by a surefire g2 flashlight (I'm not sure what the life size ratio is on this shot... I think around 2x)

all of these started out at 4368x2912, so they look a little better in their original format... i'm just limited by bladeforums size requirements at the moment.

Pretty cool photos! Looks like water in the cans. At least no alcohol was harmed in the making of this post. :D

Very cool pics.

But you do know that when you do live can cutting you're supposed to do it with Coors Water Cans.

If it's not water, thats one way of taking your mistress out for a drink!!!

now that I've tried that, i'm definitely going to see about setting up a 30+ bottle cut with the ak47. it just make take me a month to sharpen the dang thing...

If Jerry were to spike your Coors with Nyquil daytime formula you would be less jumpy:p
