i am interested in rat 1 but what does it mean "lockup is about 40%"?
 
it means that the locking liner locks the blade open at about 40% of the tang. So the liner can move another 60% (of the width of the tang) before it runs out of room. Lock up is nice and tight with no blade play. I can take a better picture of the lock up if you'd like
 
yes please i try to understand i take out my buck vantage pro and look at lock but it is 50% i think since it is in the middle? I just dont want rat 1 to fail lock if i do hard work with it since thats pretty much what i will do
 
Generally early lock up is considered better than late lock up because it gives more room for wear as you use the knife. I have used the heck out of this particular knife and have had no issues with it.

You can see the lock up in this picture. The RAT 1 is the 2nd knife from the left.
