Some Handmade Slip Joints for Blade

The easy open really appeals to me. I don't generally like MOP but it really works on that pattern.

Also, is it common for a single blade knife to have a swedge ground on one side only? I don't recall seeing that on a single blade knife.

Are there steel options for this pattern? I'd ask about handle options but we all know the answer to that question already. :)

The nonsensical definition of "handmade" only applies to the knifemakers guild. Which also may explain why they are no longer a driving force in the custom knife industry. (notice I used the word industry, not hobby).

Amherst plainly states that their knives are hand assembled from precise wire-edm parts in multiple locations by multiple parties. If you don't have an EDM machine, or multiple parties to help you, well that's too bad. It would be completely foolish to compete in the sub $300 slip joint market without one or the other. In my opinion, there is nothing "custom" about their knives, but thats just my opinion. The majority of custom knives by Bose, Rogers, Shadley aren't custom made to order either.

I like what Amherst is doing. I am not an old-timey pocketknife person, but If I were I would be interested in these as EDC's. I look at the EDM'd parts knives by Whitewing, Tomes, Britton etc and think these fit in quite nice. I would like to see a slightly higher polish but other than that they are fine form this vantage point.
