hey all, i have been reading for some time and trying to get to the abs school for several years. I got lucky when the military pcs'd me to littlerock and was fortunate enough to go. I was hoping to take my time and get really good by making knives to give to friends and fellow security forces members before making any kind of presentation piece, but we lost one of our own on friday by virtue of a damn ied. what i'd like to do is make a knife for his mother, but i dont have the skill yet. I know it will never replace her son, and i dont intend it that way,but i did want to let her know what an honor it was to serve with him. even though i just met him. I guess my question is" is it better later than never?"

So sorry dude. Maybe you could do a kit knife w/etchings or engavings of a picture of her son on the blade or a gold star or some such...Something like that might be nicer than flowers. BTW-HTYFYS.

ape,ty for the response i appreciate it. i do have a few kit knives i could put a nice handle on. perhaps i could give that a go. i just wish i were more practiced at forging and grinding. wish in one hand...

thanks craig, we had a memorial for him today, which as far as those things go was very nice. The thing that really sucks is he was only 29.Damn them anyway
