Some Help Choosing a Damasteel EDC Flipper

I've had the opportunity to own some beautiful knives and then pretty much had none. I'd like a special every day carry now and started with a CIVIVI Isham Mckenna Liner Lock Knife Black SW Copper (2.9" Damascus) C905DS-2 which overall was a nice start, but just doesn't hit the mark and after one drop it is making some weird noise when opening. The ergonomics are ok and the damascus blade isn't the sharpest, but gets the job done. The clip has already deformed which surprised me (and reason it fell on the floor). So I've upped my budget for something special and would like a Damasteel blade flipper that is at most 3" long (NYC). I don't like the front flipper as much since I've had a few scary open launches with my civivi. I loved the Pena Apache kickstop design, but can't find one. I set my budget at $500 and have narrowed own to the BENCHMADE OESER TENGU Limited with Damasteel which looks awesome, but not having a pocket clip is really a negative (I dress business casual, but don't like the knife sitting in pocket as much) and the other option is the MKM Mikita Terzuola Clap Limited Damasteel. They are both around $479. I like the Tanto/sheepfoot/reverse tanto style blade for everyday use. Am I missing any jems out there? There are so many choices and an endless amount of reviews. I do want a flipper as I also find them fun to fidget with. Thanks

Personally I'd gather up an extra $75 and grab a CRK small Sebenza 31 damascus.
The extra $$ spent will defintely be made up on its value/warranty/resale.
...not a flipper though.

This may not be up your alley, but if you’re looking at MKM it might be worth checking out their Viper Timavo Limited Edition (CK has it for about $400). The blade is just shy of 3”, it’s a Voxneas designed flipper with great action and what I find to be excellent ergonomics. I honestly love this knife…

It's also not Damasteel, so a serious downgrade in performance due to the component steels Nichols uses.

D Daso , Crane's has what you're looking for.

I’ll just toss out another option for kicks. While I don’t own one, it’s a knife I’ve been considering for quite some time…the Lion Steel TRE. Again, the blade comes in at just shy of 3” and the price is well under your budget.

Wow everyone, going to look through all these great suggestions this evening. Now I’m really in trouble. Thanks. A lot of these look like nice options. I have been collecting Nihonto (Japanese swords) for years and I’ve always gotten so much pleasure out of the variations of steel work and hence part of the reason I appreciate the Damascus blades. Easier to handle than an 800 year old blade as well 😊. Thanks for these great suggestions

Very nice, definitely in my new option list but I only see it for $600 which is going into a bit of a new category for me

I had looked at this and passed it, but it seems like there a lot of attention to detail on this.

Definitely giving this some consideration now. I wish the clip made it a bit more concealed, but better than no clip at all. I do like how fun the Bennchmade Gold is, but the no clip is a pain

If you’re interested…

Edit: I just realized that I have an account with CK, so the price I see may be different than what you see.

Well, I pulled trigger on it. Thanks for the suggestion (and everyone else as well). Look forward to checking it out

That’s one of the most beautiful Damascus knives I’ve seen! I have one Timavo in micarta and one in CF, and they are fantastic. But this is a piece of art. If you considered selling, please let me know.

It’s even better in hand, but I’ll gladly let you know if I change my mind.
