I got together ith Marcelo for a couple of hours. His wife and neighbors wife built him a cool lil spot in the woods behind his home, complete with firepit:thumbup:

It was cold today so we had to split some half frozen oak for the fire.

I brought my new S&N camp axe which is the Brian Andrews modified version.

I am no pro with an axe, but that thing made me look good. It came hair popping sharp and when I got a good hit on the oak, it popped it half with no problem. Marcelo was much better with it than I.

Needless to say, we had alot of steel with us. The only bad thing about hanging with Marcelo is that your bound to want a few new knives. If you think I have alot of Custom knives, don't visit him. He has more than twice the amount I have. One new one he showed me was made bt Landar 15; a member here on BF's.

So I just grabbed 1 !

We did alot of whittling, batonning, a few notches and a bunch of laughs.

Had a great time! I was then planning on going on a hike with Big Mike to play with more knives, but I got a bad case of the lazies:o Mike I am sorry bro, I owe you one.

Here are some pics.

We also split sme wood with my Golok with out batoning, kind of like the way you would with an axe. It worked great. The problem is by the time I thought to make a video of it, we kind went through all the wood. We did however get a video of doing it, but it was a narrow piece of oak and I didn't get any really good swings in. It still split it, but off center.

I will put the video when ever it's done loading.

The weather looks better than the last trip, a Tony...lol Nice stuff guys...really liked the pics and video...Keep them coming...I have to get back into the woods...It seems like all I do is work...

That's a sweet collection of blades.

I love the 24" axe. A lot of people seem to criticize them, comparing them to a full sized axe. I see it the other way around. Compared to a 16/17/18/19" axe, they are a huge performance gain, yet not too much heavier or cumbersome. Although, I still love them all :D

Looks like a nice day out.

Wow-it's pretty cool to see a knife I made stuck in that stump, especially with the all those known and highly regarded maker's knives keeping it company:D I'm honored, and dang happy you liked it, Tony! Looks like a good way to spend and afternoon:thumbup:

Good grief, those are some neat looking toys.

I'm surprised and pleased at how many WSS folks are in our little snack-sized state. Whereabouts was this chop-fest, if you don't mind saying?

brett, you gotta make sure you get some play time man. did you see the thread about a gathering this winter? hope everything is well with you...

man, that's a gorgeous bevy of blades! I especially like those two quilted maple knives, and that red-handled DP.

I dont know if you had notived but we live in the same town lol:cool:

We did have a cool time. Tony got to practice with flint and steel to make our little blaze. English flint rocks! Brian's mod on that Snow & Nealy is very impressive. It literally glided through some very hard oak, knots and all. We did a lot of camparisons at various tasks. Many times it's a lot easier to get together for just the day or even a few hours than for a campout.
Walter that knife with all it has been through has quickly become one of my favorites and gets put through a lot of use. You make some kick-mule blades man.

Thanks Marcelo, I'm glad to hear it:o:D I just made myself one that I'm going to put through its paces. I'm more of a big-knife kinda guy, so it's time I see what one of these little ones can do!

I wish I got more pics. I left alot of knives out. The only intentional ones was the Mora 2K and another similar knife Marcelo had. Marcelo was whittling away with those, I didn't use them in fear they would perform as well as my more expensive blades.:o

Another pic I forgot was the unsplitable oak. We must have jammed 3 or 4 knives in that thing. Had a nasty knott that wouldn't budge. In the end the Farmer Golok got the job done!

Thats Landar15's bushcraft spooky. One of the best prformers in the bunch.

gret stuff tony... that is quite a collection of knives there... lookslike a lot of fun..
