Some knife talk before the best bowie thread -- photos please!

Here is one I picked up from Dan Farr at Blade this year:

Looks good, feels great and would make a terrific companion in the field. First time I've had a knife with a Goncalo Alves handle, but it won't be the last.

I've also added to my small inventory of handle material with premium examples of Koa and Claro Walnut:

The Koa has already made its way onto a couple of knives. I'm mulling around a special project for the Claro Walnut.

This collaboration bowie stands out as a particularly special piece to join the collection this year:

nice to see the Sfreddos. Good you could find them from another collector.

Yeah, it seems like it is tough (i.e., nearly impossible) for me to get them from him directly. Believe me, I have tried! I think these are very early knives, but you can see the quality is already there. That Gaucho in particular is really, really nice. So I am up to three of his knives now . . . and counting . . .

BTW, I am really looking forward to 2012. I have several knife orders from the past couple of years that should be completed this year (fingers crossed), and a couple more unique pieces that I am trying to get a couple of makers to do for me this year. I also placed my first order for a folding knife from a well known maker and it **might** be done in 2012 if I get lucky. So I will probably be buying a lot fewer knives this year at the shows and in "the secondary market" - only if a find a special piece at an attractive price.

Great scores gentlemen! I'll post one now and more ASAP time permitting. We have guests coming in from Atlanta, Oregon and California and I need to do some serious cleaning up around here etc. etc.:grumpy: It's the cleaning i'm not happy about not the guests! :D Here is a great little necker I got that was made by Jody Muller out of Nichol's stainless steel that Jody forged himself at the Red Neck Summit 2011. The handles are etched titanium. The blade is 2.5 inches. It came with a kydex sheath. I wear it all the time and love it! While I'm at it... Happy Holidays to all my friends on Blade Forums!!!

That's a cool little piece Cal. Let the guests deal with cobwebs - I know you've had a good year too. ;)

Thanks Roger! The cobwebs are not so bad... it's the Black Widows that need to go! ;)
