Well, I had planned to get outside and use some of these before taking pictures. I feel quite embarrassed at their relative cleanliness. My excuse is a terrible so-called English Summer, and too much work to do. I love seeing all your pictures of knives actually being, and looking, used. I *really* need to get out more...

Anyway, I got my NWA forum knife and I absolutely love it. It's currently my favourite user in its size, and maybe my most favourite of all - that's a tough call between it and my Busse HHFSH. I can't sing Nick's praises highly enough after handling this knife. As a bonus, it's easily the sharpest knife out-of-the-box that I have ever received, including the Busses! It's the only one that I have not felt an immediate need to sharpen on arrival. There are plenty of good things said about his knife - they are all justified.

I've also recently bought, after a thread here discussing them, a Ritter RSK Mk3 and a Bark River Nebula. So here's some pics of the knives:

And finally, here's a random picture of some of my bit's and pieces:

Real nice herd of field knives you have there! Glad to see more pics of the NWA too.

Very nice. Great to see some other "BF survival knives" pictured here. Soon we will need to get a thread started to see what we all have drooled over for the past 4-5 months.

:( When are we going to get the next big group buy on knives again?

I'm really liking the look of the Ritter. I haven't actually seen that many pictures of it. You like it much?

Jury's still out on the Ritter, from a purely personal aspect...

I'm not sure I like the way it grips in my hand. It's as if the blade wants to angle away from the work, unless I put my thumb on the spine; then it's perfect. But not when I don't want to use that grip. It almost makes me want to try to grip it with my index finger on the blade, as if it had a choil. Not a good idea now that I've sharpened it.

The blade wasn't very sharp on arrival (it was not 'new' but was completely unused with the factory grind intact). Not a problem; but it also wasn't ground very straight. There was a definate 'wobble' on sighting down the blade. So it took about an hour to reset the bevels and make it hair-popping sharp.

That said, I do still like the knife. It's nice steel and a good size and thickness.

I haven't got chance to use it properly yet. Maybe my opinion of the way it fits my hand will change when I do. I hope so.

Until then, I would say it's one you need to try for fit before you buy. Or buy it and sell it on if you don't like it...

Rick.

I like my fixed Rittergrip a lot. He sized the blade just right for my camp needs. The blade was plenty sharp when it arrived and it continues to take an edge well - just like the Ritter folders. It is also fairly lightweight - for a fixed blade - which is important to me.

I like the fixed Rittergri's handle. I'm a big guy - 6'5" with big hands - I buy 2XL gloves. The advantage of the handle shape is that it fits my big hands AND my wife's small hands. Handles with a widened end - like 3 or 4 of the knives shown in the pics - tend to force my hand to a particular position and in my hands the wide ends get in the way. The fixed Rittergrip handle shape allows me to position as needed.

Here is a picture of the knife in Doug Ritter's hand - just to help you get a sense of the grip: http://www.equipped.org/graphics/RSKMk3_grip_20d.jpg

I also like the surface texture of the handle. Rounded with a bit of roughness, but not too much.

The sheath is OK, though nothing spectacular. I much prefer a nyon sheath to a leather sheath since the leather sheaths are more affected by water. I prefer not to have sheath pockets or other junk that makes the sheath bigger than it needs to be. The Rittergrip's sheath has a bunch of different attachment points on the back. They don't take up much room or get in the way, but I don't use them. I do worry a bit that over time I'll slice up the handle strap while inserting/removing the knife, but so far I don't see much wear there.
