Some Micarta for the 16

I must be jinxed with Saint, because I just got my second set of scales from him after waiting like a month and a half, and the fit and finish is rough they dont fit the knife properly on the small side so steel sticks out. If it was on the large side I could just polish it down some. Plus the edges were rough and tattered with string coming off them. I keep seeing people saying good things about his work and Customer Service, but I seem to be the exception to the rule. I wish someone else produced colored micarta Becker scales in quantity. I am really disappointed because I wanted the black/grey Micarta for my tweeners but apparently I will have to wait for Kabar to make it to be sure that I get quality, and a reasonable time frame.
Sorry about Hijacking your thread, Im just a bit jealous that yours are great and 2 pair in a row for me have not been.
I really dont feel like waiting another month and a half for another pair either especially since he didn't even have the decency to drop a note apologizing for the delay or the first pair that were defective.

Buyer beware, I have seen other people have problems with him too but it always seemed like it got resolved. Mine has not been.

I would email him, Michael seems to be a pretty good guy and would fix you up I'm sure. They are handmade so some flaws are probably going to sneak through but I have a dozen scales from him and all are the same. The only ones I usually have to sand a bit are when I put them on some of the older Camillus stuff, the dimensions all seem to vary a bit on them, brutes, machaxen doesn't seem to matter.

I might give that a try again Sky, my concern is that like I said its the replacement set for a first set that was bad, and it was a LOOONG time getting the replacement.
I am a bit frustrated. Maybe I should have you order me Micarta ..lol since hes not messing yours up.
Its too bad nobody is buying Micarta handles and selling Beckers pre- re scaled, that would be sexy.

Hmm this news bums me out since I placed an order for saint micarta. But hope you are able to get yours worked out, maybe a set of lemons slipped by him.

I will say the micarta "feels" great it has just the right amount of roughness for grip without being uncomfortable.
I Love the color too.
I just wish I could get a set that fits right ..lol

I have actually thought about offering fully outfitted packages, knife, stripped, micarta and a sheath but the cost would be a big factor for alot of people. Also discussing with some people about having custom micarta scales made solely for my shop.

Great more money to send you :D

Got mine today. I am pleased! The micarta looks and feels great. Also my knife still fits into the stock sheath. Definitely a little harder to snap though. I think leaving the snaps fastened will stretch it out a bit.

Mine came in today as well (exactly on the day predicted when I purchased). I'm guessing a lot people will be getting theirs in around this time since we all ordered as soon as Skystorm posted this thread :D

One slab is a bit thicker than the other and I think I'll need to sand a couple of the edges to fit better, but overall I like them quite a bit so far. They definitely fill my hand better than the stock zytel.

The flaws I've mentioned are really only minor aesthetic nit-picky things for the most part. Even with the edges they still feel very nice in hand.

Mine also arrived this week. One side is a little high on one side but I'm going to sand it down. They do feel good in the hand and even manage to fit my kydex sheath. A little snug but it still works.

Got mine yesterday and the fit and finish was nice. I did have to do just a bit of edge sanding but not a big deal. These make the knife feel completely custom.
