I had the Camp Knife and the Hiking Buddy out in the field with me today, thoughr I'd check it out in use. Man this thing is sweet!

….

That looks like a pretty sweet knife, and judging by the pictures a pretty capable chopper.

Nice pics! Those two look like they pair up nicely together.

Thanks, and yes they do pair up nicely, and complement each other very well.

Quit using my knife and send it to me:D

Lol, you're will be there soon enough. I saw the pics in Bud's sneak peek thread :)

I think it is very nice, and the multi-position handle really helps out with the chopping.

 Nice! Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks man, glad you liked the post!

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful camping fixed blade knife perfect for trekking

Glad you enjoyed it. Andy really shows his handle making and weight distribution genius with this one. The knife is very comfortable to use even in finer tasks with the counterbalance of the long handle when choking up on it, but then dropping back on the handle the knife chops like a bigger knife.

I've wanted one of these guys for a long time! The pics in Bud's sneak peak don't make it any easier. What a versitle tool!

It would probably be easier for you to crush my budget if I just forwarded my paycheck directly. ;)

Yet another on the list. It was supposed to stop growing this year but it keeps getting longer.

Great pics Mist! Thanks for sharing. I am excited for one of these sometime in the future!

I am really glad to see the mid tech Camp come out. They nailed the profile and ergos, and it handles very well! I'm good with this one for a user, but those custom shop models are gonna be sweet!

Lol, no thinks, I'm busy enough crushing my own :) Yeah, every time I think I'm done...

Thanks man! Yeah, I was excited about the mid tech HB coming out, and am hopeful for a couple of others later, but the description I was given of the Camp Knife design had me waiting on the edge of my seat, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. They nailed it perfectly in my opinion.

Thanks Mist. Great pics as usual!

So who's going to put this 3V hunk of steel through some Nathan the Machinist-style cinder block tests!?

Thanks Kris! I'm really not sure what Nathan's style of cinder block tests are like...but since Andy doesn't really dig "destruction-style" testing, I thought I'd stick more within reasonable expectations of the design, for now at least :)

These are some shots from a thread I'll be posting in the w&ss section in a little while.

Lol I'd stick with reasonable tests as well. Was just jokingly being the devil on someone's shoulder. ;) I'm guessing everyone knows it's fine for a maker like NTM to baton his knives through cinder blocks, but a customer shouldn't do that unless they're cool blowing their warranty.

Well...I have used prototype RMJ hawks to make door ways and firing ports (simulated) in block walls, and to turn fire bricks into fire-brick rubble in order to test the heat treat and edge geometry. So, don't get me wrong, if Andy says I should chop blocks with it, then I will definitely give it a go and see how it fares :D

I just remember discussions with Andy years ago, and I know he tends to prefer that tests are within reasonable expectations of a design...so that's what I generally stick to with his knives :)

How does the production camp compare to your handmade one that you have/had? Particularly tip strength? If I recall your camp had a full grind, this must have meant a pretty thin tip, is the production version beefier?

Wow, compared to the Hiking Buddy that thing dwarfs it completely ! pretty sweet there, thanks for the showing sir!

I'll have to check out the tip with this thought in mind, but actually the way Andy did the distal taper on that one, it really didn't have too fine of a tip. It sure wasn't weak in anyway. That is one I will likely always miss...as will my partner Andrew lol.

Yeah, the Hiking Buddy is barely longer than just the blade of the Camp knife, so they complement each other well :)
