Bobs words

Hi Joe , Bob Furusho here. How are you? Here are some pics of the three Hells Belle's from the cover of Bowies, Big Knives and the Best of Battle Blades 2nd edition.

The first one is a carbon steel HB with an 11 3/4 inch blade, file worked guard and eagle head handle of Black Locust wood. It has emeralds for the eyes ca. 1997. The balance and agility of this early HB is better than most of the others that i have held and makes practice a joy.

Next is another carbon HB with 12 inch blade and brass guard engraced with the legend ( Bill Bagwell His Knife) along with some floral decoration. The Brass color connects the ebony eagle which has Ruby eyes and brass pins set in the wings. This knife came from Bill and is essential to the core of my collection. (from 1998)

Finally is the damascus HB with 13 inch blade and tapered notched fighting guard denoteinearly DOB. It has an ebony eagle handle with ruby eyes. This was bought as a pair from Bill. The first two damascus HB he made.

Sincerly Bob Furusho

If i remember right there has only been a couple of Hell's Belle's done with brass guards so that middle one is a rare bird (pardon the pun)indeed.

man that guys' work is really growing on me.

Real breathtaking works
Long time love to have one of BB's knife ;)
Lots of thanks to both of you John and Bob for all the showing and telling :D

Now that is what knife collecting looks like. That's also what the beginning of provenance looks like. Imagine value piling up over time. The maker, the knives, the myth...
I'm not joking.

thanks for the thread and pics Joey, I hope to see many more Bagwell threads in the future from you.

Bill Bagwell fighting blades are really something to me,
something that symbolize the sense of freedom.
I think they have something we should not forget within their blade.

Thank you JP for sharing.

Incredible knives. Wonderful collection.
Takes my breath away.

Thanks, Joe.

Those are NICE. I especially like that damascus one. To date, I have not held a Bagwell. I will have to change that!

Very impressive - I had the opportunity to see the collection displayed at a show many years back (I think it was SOS) - it was pretty special.

Very cool that he owns all three knives from the cover of the book.

Thank you Joe for the post and to Bob furusho for Providing them.

Odd request: I can't recall ever seeing a photograph of Bill Bagwell himself. As Buddy (HTMD) mentioned: 'The Myth' :) Let's see who's work we are admiring, please?

Thanks!

Both a beautiful and historically substantial display of knives.

Thanks Joe and Bob for the look.

Great knives. The three of them together make a grand statement.

Bill looks like someone you wouldn't want to mess with. Actually Joe, same goes for you!

Thanks for posting the pics. I'm not a big bird's head guy but these are the exception for me, I really like 'em.

Thanks Joe. He looks appropriately powerful. :D
