Some more pics from a diffrent hike. The hike started around 76deg when we got to the top of the rail it was about 29deg. By the time we turned around it was below 0deg with the wind howling... I werent ready for it what so ever no gloves all cotton cloths. Sure was an eye opener for next time..

aye it is the Palm springs rail.... My first time up there so i werent prepared for the cold... You can actualy see from the pics that the more we went up the colder and more snow and ice there was on the trees.. Except the last one that i took by the rail again.. It wasnt realy snowing more like tiny snow balls keeped falling down..

Sasha

To say it was cold was is an understatment lol. You had to be there..
Rocky i realy liked the trees but had problem as first my hands went numb and then the batteries got cold and the camera slowed down untill we reached lower elevation. Where it was only 31deg.

Hey Sasha, really liked the pictures. I'm looking forward to lots of snow this winter. Hope I'm not disappointed.

Hey Doc as someone that lives in the snow.. What would be the cause that instead of snow it would come down in small balls of snow almost like hail but it would be snow..

Hey Sasha, if this is a quiz, I failed. :( I really have no idea, unless snowballs mate?

And what, pray tell, does "as someone that lives in snow" mean? We really don't live in igloos, you know. :D

Doc

Hey Doc you live in Canada and i live in sunny CA you might as well live in an Igloo lol... Dont all Canadians live in a cabin out in the snow???? Hunt moose and get drunk .....I had never seen the snow fall down in little balls. Not that i seen that much snow in the first place lol..

Hey Sasha, I haven't hunted moose yet.

Well how are you waiting for???? go and kill one already..How hard can it be???? walk up to it smack it on the head for a basball bat and you got dinner ...... Does it take someone from CA to teach you how to hunt moose???

Sasha

Hey that's Mt. San Jacinto near palm springs. I hiked up to the summit of that mountain back in 2001. I think it's a little over 10,800 ft. elev. It's beautiful up there with or without the snow.

I guess some stereotypes ring true :)

Falling fluffy snow flakes is how we catch our women around these parts. You see they walk around all cutsey like, head towards the sky, tongue out trying to capture a delicious snow flake. The wiley man will have managed to engineer a metal fence pole out there and when the unwitting female accidentally lands her tongue onto the pole - we gott'em!!! Now I understand in California they use the pole somewhat differently, with mirrors, disco lights and loud music. Also because of the warmer climate in those parts the women have less attire. But the pole is clearly a unique example of convergent social evolution, demonstrating how there are many paths to the same end point. :D :D :D

Okay - joking aside, those are some really nice pictures. I loved the one with the close up of the the frosted needles.

I though you guys already had snow up there?
Or has Hamilton been by-passed?
My niece in Port Perry has lots of snow already (Lots by by ont standards i mean).
Its been freakishly warm (5-15 degrees celsius) and wet here the past week or so.
Wouldn't mind the warmth if the sun came out and the rain stopped!
lol.

Hey th, we had a dusting, that's all (or a major snowfall by California standards). We always get shortchanged. But you're right, a little bit up north, and down west, they got quite a bit. Current temperature is -5 C.

No snow in Edmonton right now either, in fact it was raining this morning. Can't wait for it to get frosty, winter is my favorite season- it makes you feel alive.

We got our first snowfall today with about 20cm on the ground. The forecast calls for temps to go above freezing this coming week, though.
