Hit pay dirt yesterday. I Picked up this new S&W air weight 38 special from lay away. I also hit a Knife sale and picked up the NRA hunter in 440C and the Condor Inca knife. It has a razor sharp Conxex edge and very nice leather sheath. Last but not least, the new Wenger Pocket clpi SAK Very large and sharp locking main blade. Now it's off to the woods.

I am still waiting for my permit, but that 38 special is the hand gun I have my eye on.

I did a little trading to pick off the layaway. Scheels All Sports has a 10 month Free lay away. I have purchased quite a few guns on that program over the years.

I have had my permit for about 20 years. This is about as good a serous carry gun as I have found. It's mmall and light enough to carry but has enough size and good enough grips to make it pretty shootable. As most of you know, the NRA knives are made by Benchmade and IMO are a very good value. Especially at half price.

I just saw a sign that said " I would rather have a gun in my hand than a cop on the phone."

I like the .38! I need to get something lighter for wandering the woods. BTW - check your PM`s, you have something almost ready to come your way.

Great choice! I have a similar Airweight.

Don't skimp on the ammo. I carry Corbon 125gr in mine. It travels at (almost) .357 mag velocity. Speer's Gold Dot seems to also be a good performing round in the short barrel .38's.

I finally grabbed a 340 SC a few months ago and it's been in my pocket ever since. Great carry gun. Summer time primary, winter time back-up.

I just carry a .357. Same size, same weight, same everything, with the ability to carry both cartridges...

Two things, Jim:

1. Do you have any other pics of the SAK? I am looking for one with a beefier blade and that looks like the one.

2. I need your address again or I will not be able to send $$ inbound. I got a little over-zelous when cleaning the desk area off...oops...

I have to say the Chest Holster I got from Robert at Survival Sheath for my J Frame is about one of the most slickest high value pieces of gear I can think of for the wild. I keep the holster in my clothes bag. Once we get to our vehicle rally point I put it on and holster up my J frame which is my back up handgun. I also find it most useful for hunting as well because often you're primary handgun is covered in layers of warm clothing...but this holster is very accessible even with heavy winter layers on.

I'm probably going to order another one in OD Green and with an additional buckle for the second strap if that can be done Robert? Simply an awesome piece of practical gear for a J Frame!

Thanks for the reply's. Doug I will get you that address. I do that all the time, I would loose my pants if it were warmer in ND.:D
