Is the rough spot from the detent ball coming off the blade before it get's to the back, meaning the blade isn't wide enough to keep the ball riding smoothly until it just about gets to the back and off of the blade? Or maybe the ball not recessed enough into the liner digging into the blade material? These were some of the problems I had in the beginning. The chip in the pearl can be worked also, if it is a stress flacture on the back of the scale where the scale meets the liner. One way to fix that if it bothers you if to Flute/file work the inside of the pearl to hide the flaw. I got some of these and found out not to buff it that direction! It rip's them from the scale. I also crazy glue the flactures if there is any before buffing.
