Hi everyone.
I have been pretty lucky to be honest..at times you sit back and look at what you have...I have a great job, great daughters-a lovely lady, a neat old house...AND...I get to follow my hobby/addiction in this fantastic knife world of ours...
I would really like to show you some of my new arrivals...if you are anything like me, I just love looking at everyones knives..so please ....take a look at the latest arrivals, nothing too flash, but to me...I feel pretty lucky....I hope you enjoy the look.

This knife is one of John Lloyds, now Vince...please correct me if I have anything wrong here my friend...John I think is an up-coming maker, and I think he will be a name that we will see a bit more of in years to come the two I have are nice knives, but I have another couple that are on the way that I think super-cede this last lot of work in style, and quality...but in saying this...the gunstock / fish shield is real nice knife...beautiful W &T, finish to the knife is great, its a very nice knife...

Well done, Duncan. Some very nice knives!

Yea...I was thinking the same thing about the fish shield. Haven't seen that before

Wow, Duncan, you did good!

The fish shield on that John Lloyd Gunstock has got to be one of a kind. Nicely done and a great looking knife. The Ohta is stunning and I really like that Buck 701 too. The 703 is my all time favorite Buck knife. (same design but 3 1/4" closed)

You have some nice ones there, my friend. Congrats!

The Buck 700 series were some great knives - the 709 is one of my all time favorite production EDC knives (at least in modern times). Those "black box" Winchesters were a great series -- I have two of the 4 blade swellback congress I got some while back. Nice ones from John Lloyd too.

Quite a haul there!

Congrats on the new knives, Duncan! Some really nicely figured stag on those knives. I wondered if Queen made those knives for Winchester but I wasn't sure -- thank you for the info.

That's a great group there, Duncan! I always like to see someone post that they have acquired some knives that they have been wanting for a while. I'm sure it has to be even harder to get them to the other side of the world, but I bet it makes it that much more special for you. Thanks for sharing and congrats on the new knives.

Nice haul, especially the Ohta. I have been wanting an Ohta for some time now.

I have an Eye Brand like that. The saw works really well.

:thumbup:Very nice batch Duncan

Nothing wrong at all
-Vince :)

Wow.... Very cool Duncan. I'd be a happy camper too if all those showed up at my door

Awesome haul Duncan. That gunstock is a nice piece, with lovely stag scales.

I especially like that Ohta. I have one in the same pattern and it's my favorite knife.

Thank you guys for the great comments, always great getting comments and info from everyone, there are more knives to come :o, another Winchester-I think there may be a year difference between the two-we'll see...
I have just come back from visiting my very good friend, I have been mates with him since I was 15 years old, hes like a Brother to me..anyway...his name is Bobby, and he would drop everything to come and help you when you need a hand, not so long ago we buried his Dad...Arthur was a older version of Bob...loved his fishing, as Bob does, ...anyway...the day his dads coffin was lowered into the ground...I couldnt get Bob to leave with me...he just couldnt leave his Dads coffin in there without finishing the task...so we grabbed a few shovels...and did the deed ourselves...I bloody near needed the plot next to Arthur when we finished-whew....it was a very hot day, I was wearing a suit and tie.
Back to the fish shielded knife....as soon as I handled this knife-I knew it was for my mate, its now in his pocket, and I have never felt better about gifting a knife, he misses going fishing with his Dad, and I just think its a great knife for him.

Thats what good friends do. The knife is an incredible gift. My best friend and I have been friends since grade school ( almost 40 years ), and we still go camping and hunting together every year.

My condolensces for the loss of your friends dad

All beautiful stuff Campbell. You truly are fortunate my friend!
Two things: That Ohta! I have not owned an Ohta yet, not for lack of trying. Each one I see is remarkable.
And that John Lloyd with the fish shield. If I had seen that one for sale I would have scooped it up for the shield alone! (Although the rest of the knife is awesome...)

Something about a nice knife in your pocket....is just gives you that extra swagger in your walk....

What a sweet bevy of gorgeous traditional slipjoints you have managed to get your paws on here, Duncan!.  Man-Oh-Man, I just keep staring at this new batch of eye candy or yours.. That one John Loyd with the Fish shield really jumped out at me too. Very  indeed!. And the Stag on the others! What a great score here, pard!

Incidentally, that vintage Buck #701 is in incredible condition as is her little belt sheath. If memory serves she is late 1970's -- 1977-78-79 based on that tang stamp.. I am going to check my references to make sure and let you know later on.

Best,
Anthony

That is a great haul and a wonderful story of friendship. I never get tired of seeing posts of either of those subjects:thumbup:

Duncan, thanks for showing us your new knives. Your pictures are very good. Also very touching story about your friend Bob and then giving him one of your special knives. Giving away a knife you really like makes it a most special gift for both of you.
I have been using a Schlieper 99DS for some years for my gardening/landscaping work on my property. The blade really takes and holds a superior edge and the saw blade is a very efficient 'cutter' as well. Once you start using a knife with a good saw blade, you'll find it as useful as a regular blade. AGR has a great pouch style sheath that is a perfect fit for it.
As a side note, i just read a post by AG in which he says Schlieper is "no more". Yet lately i've seen lots of new Schlieper knives on ebay (more than ever before), so i wonder if knives with this branding are now being made elsewhere ? Anybody know about this ? (not to hijack your thread Duncan, but it would be important to know if this is the case)
