Some new friends have arrived, ohta, western, john loyd....

As a side note, i just read a post by AG in which he says Schlieper is "no more". Yet lately i've seen lots of new Schlieper knives on ebay (more than ever before), so i wonder if knives with this branding are now being made elsewhere ? Anybody know about this ? (not to hijack your thread Duncan, but it would be important to know if this is the case)
roland

They are made by Friedrich Olbertz: http://www.pocketknives.de/shop/schliessmesser-lockbacks-carl-schlieper-c-72_73.html

Schlieper knives have 'always'(?) been made in the Olbertz factory. AG's post suggested they are now made elsewhere like the majority of old time brand names. i.e. same name, different maker and therefore different quality standards.

Wonderful haul, Duncan - you are indeed a lucky man! And a generous one!
Everyone should experience OHTA's work, and those Black Box Winchesters are the hidden gems of 20th century production knives. They were well made, and prices are still reasonable as far as I can tell!

What a brilliant selection Duncan!
I wish you well to own them, carry them and enjoy them bud.:)

I particularly love the Schlieper...........

Great knives Duncan! I too love looking at what everyone has. It holds me over so I don't buy something when I cant afford it. And I love the Winchester. That is an amazing knife. And if you like the pattern you should like the upcoming Case/Bose collab. Keep an eye out for it. It'll be amazing.

Duncan has another Schlieper inbound & I garauntee it,he's gonna flip out over it

Roland..please dont worry about "hijacking" the thread my friend..this is what its all about-knives, knives knives
Carried the Ohta today...everything got opened that didnt need to be, and my work mates think Im quite mental-so hey...it was a good day.
Anthony...thank you, any info on this lovely little Buck would be very much
appreciated, I could reply to everyone, but everyones comments are taken in greatly!
Charlie..the price that they are going for just doesnt justify the workmanship..those Winchesters are within the boundaries of the neat Vintage knives - as in age and quality, just another footstep we all take in the knife world I guess Im taking, as with everyone, and there are some big footsteps to follow-and this is what makes this place so very very cool, lots of learning, lots of appreciating everyones tastes and place where they are
Any information is good information, so thank you for your kind comments, keep well everyone.
