A friend sent me these to look over and enjoy for a while, Mike had told me he was doing some different stuff, the handles on these are very comfy and the one is quite nice in contrast!
Enjoy!

Yes it's good to have friends in this day and age!
And yes the scales are quite nice and contrasty, good grain pattern there, the middle one has a bolster of ironwood that is not only angled as you see but also dovetailed as well with the red spacer between, nicely done!

Thanks Neil, I knew someone would comment on me ending on a Wharncliff...;)

Here is a spine view of that bolstered one...:)

A friend picked this one up last weekend, nicely made dagger, short blade, from scale to tip is about 3 1/4" and the edges are ground fairly thin so it cuts well even for a dagger blade!
Micarta scales with ATS-34 blade, his Sport 500 model...

G2 ;)

That second one is the one I like! What is it called and how do I get in touch with Mike to order one?

Hey there, That one is his model # 106 probably will need to check the options out with him but that is a sweet knife!

His email address is
MikeIrie@aol.com

Or you can give him a call at 719-572-5330

Now even though he has an EMAIL address, he isn't on the computer much, grinding away, so he said that calls are best to reach him...he lives in Colorado Springs CO so you do the math for the timezone diffs in your area...in other words don't shake him up too early ;)

Tell him G2 sent ya, I'm sure that will help too...:)

Hey G2, thanks for a peek at Mike's new stuff. Mike makes a fine knife and is one heck of a nice guy. He doesn't get mentioned enough for "Best Bang for the Buck" but he should be.

Here's mine, great grinds and very nice stag. ;)

Excellent image there PhilL! and in Stag as well! who would have guess? ;) nice, I have a model #700 hawkbill blade in stag also, very sweet...heck, here's a scan of it as well!
G2 :)

Well now...when I received the knives from my friend, I had to order the wharncliff version for my self, but with bolsters and S30V blade with tapered tang and mosaic pins and the Ironwood of course, came out most excellent, the bolster has nice rounded features so there aren't any sharp edges to hurt or bite as you grip the knife, very comfy!!!

Compare this one, this one started the process!

and this new one, it's the same blade shape and size, just scanned a little larger...;)

Enjoy! I sure am, thanks Mike!

That is one of the cleaniest classiest knives I have seen.
There is nothing about it I dont like other than it aint mine.

Nice score G2 and great work Mike...

well thought out and extremly well executed !!

Thanks Win and John, she be nice, with the angle of the straight edge it works well when cutting material on a cutting board when normal straight edge wharncliffs are limited to cutting with the point mostly, this has a nice attack angle to it!

The stainless bolsters are dovetailed nicely over the desert ironwood, blade is about 3 3/4", a little long for a wharncliff but this one works great, for detailed work I'll use this little damascus wharncliff that I picked up at the Baltimore show last weekend, that has a blade of 2 3/4" with a handle of only 2 1/2" so its a wee bit of a knife but very sharp! the grind on it goes from the spine down to the edge, almost a zero bevel!

the handle scales are Mammoth ivory and the bolsters on that are damascus as well...;)

Wow Gary, I am simply GREEN with envy!

Beautiful knife, and with that thinly ground S30V, I'll bet she's got a real wicked side to her as well :) I especially like those handles, it seems to have a bit of swell to it that would help to make a good, positive grip!

By the way, I thought I had seen you mention somewhere that you don't care much for the notches in the rear of the blade...or am I thinking of someone else?

Congratulations!

Matthew, a small notch is intolerable as it does catch material as you try to cut, this has an arc to it and any material that falls down into it will slide up onto the razor sharp edge! So yep, that is me, nope this one isn't that way, close but not quite...good memory! ;)
