Came home after a long difficult night's work (orienting a new guy to cover lots of my nightshifts whilst i finish my nursing degree) and sack out with the A/C on. never heard the UPS guy coming during the afternoon- but the wifey, bless her little soul, was around the house.
So i wake up to a couple boxes on the living room floor (and they weren't even ticking or anything)....my new 29" Kamagong stick from Kris Cutlery arrived- boy oh boy, it's sweet. looks like black metal. A perfect stick, gonna love it (well, not THAT way).
Then a smaller box from Michael Enad- the guy makes cool FMA swords, knives, and palmsticks from some wild kinds of wood (Thanks to Kelvin for the heads-up on this one!).
six inches long, about one inch around, tapered ends. with a really cool-looking finger loop in the middle. Best part- these things are hard and heavy- made of American Ironwood....Wooohooo!

KELT,

I told you he makes good palm sticks.

The wood swords are nice too. You could probably use one in a fight. I have the Barong and it has a nice point on it for something made of wood. I occasionally give my uncoated(no lacquer, etc.) hardwood sticks from Kris Cutlery and Canemasters a rubdown with "teak oil" to keep the wood from possibly cracking. I don't know if this is necessary or not...

Don't do any full power abanicos with that Kamagong unless you are used to heavy sticks. I learned that the hard way!

You all should have seen his collection of Barongs and Krises that he brought to the PIMA(Doce Pares) stickfighting tournament. I was practically drooling.

Steve,
Kelvin's link is the one i followed- i'm not sure if it has any palm sticks listed, but Michael should post a few pics- it would be worth it. these aren't little slim pieces of oak- picture a cigar shaped 6" long, tapered down to flat ends about 1/2" across. i replaced the cord (it's a cool looking hemp "chinese party" looking cord but may attract a bit of attention) with a thicker paracord- he left the holes just large enough that you could double up the typical paracord and get it through. the fit he made (from hole to hole in the middle of the stick) was perfect for my middle and ring fingers. it was almost as if he was right here doing the measurements! p.s.- he made them out of ironwood, very smooth and very nice-looking grain. not too heavy but you can tell they are strong.
simple but oh so many applications.

Kelvin,
thanks, you're right...i think i see mine in there!
Just so nobody gets confused- the ones that only have one hole in the center and a longer loop on them- he sent me one, and explained that they're made that way to be used as a trainer. You can put the loop around your wrist, demonstrate techniques, and then just let it dangle from your wrist so your hands are free. neat idea; also, you can just pull the ends through on these until they fit your middle finger, re-knot them, and you have a perfectly acceptable palm stick. the trainer i got is closer to 7" than the 6" ironwoods he sent me. (order more than one and you get a bit of a discount!).

Nice Palm sticks! I have a wooden Chris and dagger set from Michael that hangs on my wall near my workout dummy. He didn't have the palm sticks at the time. I met him at the Bakbakan tourney.

KELT,

I was probably one of the first people to get his palm sticks. I ordered three 6" palm sticks without any finger/wrist cords. Each had differently shaped ends(I chose the shapes). He also sent me the 7" one with the wrist loop. I like the wrist loop. It's almost impossible to drop the palm stick, and you can put back into your palm with the flick of your wrist.
