Since I've been getting advice from you guys, you can see the progression. These are knives one through five, built in order.
Top one I built in high school, 12 years ago.
Next one is a sawzall blade, mostly done for pinned handle practice.
Third one is a trap spring, forged flat, annealed, ground, then quenched in oil and tempered in the oven. It has mesquite handles and nail pins.
Fourth one is a trap spring, trap baseplate for the guard, trap ring on the pommel. This was my first hidden tang, first guard, and the subject of my post about antler finishing. I don't really like proportions with the large handle, but I built it for a friend with big hands.
Bottom one is a file, finished with birdseye maple scavenged from a gym floor. This one is my first with a plunge cut, and the first with filework.
Working on three more right now!
