I have read several posts where folks have said along the lines of "I read a bunch of the forum online today at work" or "I like to do reasearch about knives online at work"! Boy, I wish my boss would let me look up knives and fun things online at work!!!:D That would get me a free locker cleaning and an escorted walk out the front door! :( :D Where do you guys work??? I need to get a job there so I can be on the clock and get paid to "surf" the forum!:D ;) :p :(

when I'm either the only one on my shift or when we have a skeleton crew on Saturdays. During normal office hours I work, but from 8:00-10:30 the office is ALL mine. It's one of those jobs where I'm ready to pull out my hair or I'm just picking my nose. There's not always a lot of middle ground. On Saturdays I think "And they PAY me to do this". On the first of the month I think "They don't pay me ENOUGH to do this". Like everything in life, you gotta take the bad with the good.

Every job has it's perks and benefits. I work as a lab tech in the computer/networking lab at the community college. Spent literally 9 hrs. today sitting on the butt, mostly just surfing.

But even I have modest ambitions ...I fantasize about being the bouncer in one of these fancy Nevada 'cat houses' :)

I work the tech crew at a church. When everything is setup or torn down, I have a bit of free time. :)

Yeah Right! My boss is a real A**HOLE!! He "let's me" surf the web all I want, but then he makes me feel guilty and makes me work late when I should be seeing my family:mad: :grumpy:

Did I mention that I'm self-employed:p :D

Architect. I channel my posts into bursts. Since I'm on a fast line, I can nail all my posts quickly and at once, thereby eliminating any worries about being caught "surfing". (there are certain times of the day that are better than others...right? ;) )

How did I get here?

Hmmm...let's see...about $42,000 in student loans...:D:D

That's what I get for "caring" about education and not just signing myself up to the nearest state-run college (where I actually would have had it paid-in-full).

That's funny Dan, I have a friend who works for an architectual firm and he and his co-workers spend alot of time online too...hmmmm;)

Self Employed contract Tech Writer. I work from home, and upload documents in HTML and PDF from states away. I live in Indianapolis, and the Co I contract for is in Minnesota.

I did do my best surfing from the T1 at my former local employers, but they tanked. I guess I wasn't the only one surfing on their dime!

Probably has something to do with architecture being in the top 20 most stressful jobs...:p

If you don't take a break every once in a while, you go nuts...

I have a lousy boss

Better hope Yangdu doesn't read that Uncle!  :D

Sorry, sitting here typing coverletters and sending out resumes makes me into an incurable wiseass (or more of one;)):D

Architect...$42,000. Dang it, I've got $56,000 in student loans and I only have an Associates in CAD (which I don't use). I ALMOST have a BS in computer grapics, but work as a photographer.

I think I'm doing something wrong  :D

not wrong if it's what you like...imho

I literally live at work for two weeks of the month. With 24 hour darkness rapidly approaching, sometimes the only thing to do is surf the 'net. It is a way to feel connected with the outside world on what, at times, feels like a space station.

All of the surfing I do is after hours, and is often mingled with work projects I have on the go.

I work for a small company - local office is roughly 25 employees. No prob with surfing HI or TFL (The Firing Line). Lunch or breaks only, natch. The network admin doesn't object (admittedly, that's me).

Recently, returning from a jobsite, one of the young lady employees and I were on our way back and happened to be going by "my" range at around lunchtime.

...wound up renting an MP-5 for the young lady. She enjoyed it (understatement). Vocally!

Wound up renting the same HK MP-5 for the my assistant, another young lady, 'bout a week later.

...followed by a third rental for yet another lady.

Three employees, three MP5 rentals (I'm a member, it's cheap) and the rest lined up for the next rental. Gawd I love this Company; Gawd I love this state. Another 4 and I'll have a clean sweep and infiltrate the MMM.

Before Uncle thinks I'm getting out of control: My wife Vicki knows and encourages same. It's an educational thing. You couldn't find an anti in the building on a bet. Did I say I love this state?

How's that LS-1 treatin' you SkagSig?

As a canuck I can now only dream of owning an MP-5. I have always wanted to own one of those but was too young and/or poor to buy a semi-auto version before they got banned.

Are there ranges in Arizona where one can rent one of those things? How about full auto? I am thinking about a vacation early next year to get away from snow.

Philthygeezer who do you answer to ...a consortium of penguins or the abominable snowman :D

Hey now sir, it's spelled CanAuUk. There are a few of us Australians on the forum 'ya know :)
